Immediately after the ruling on August 28, 2025, Idhi and Osire were arrested and taken to Luzira Prison, while a warrant of arrest was issued against Otukol to ensure he appears for sentencing. “All three were part of a scheme to achieve a common purpose. Each of them acted in concert to steal government funds,” Elubu said. The judge convicted the trio of theft and conspiracy to defraud, ruling that the prosecution had adduced incriminating evidence against them. Kampala : Uganda’s former chief of military intelligence, Major General James Birungi, has been arrested and detained at Makindye Military Police Prison.  He is expected to face trial before a military court martial on multiple charges related to treason and corruption and other serious offences, officials said on Friday. The arrest follows findings from a high-level board of inquiry led by Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Sam Okiding, established to investigate allegations of compromised intelligence operations and internal misconduct within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). “This is not an isolated case. Following a news that broke over the weekend about one of the Maracha District Tractor parked in an area in Arua City , the technical head for that department has responded to the news, dismissing the news that it was abandoned. Then the LC1 came rushing in on a boda and told everyone to stop what they were doing and leave. “Mbu” in his village, no one buys land without his stamp and signature. He snatched the agreement and tore it into pieces because there was nowhere for him to sign.
