The NRM Party's Election Tribunal, which was constituted with the aim of receiving, hearing and ruling on Election Petitions arising from the NRM Party primary elections, has on Wednesday 20-8-2025 upheld the victory of Hon Alioni Yorke Odria as the duly elected NRM Party flag bearer for Aringa South Constituency in Yumbe District.

The NRM primary election for Aringa South Constituency MP position, that attracted 6 candidates, showed the incumbent MP Hon Alioni Yorke Odria emerged the winner after he scored 17,671 votes in the 17-7-2025 NRM parliamentary primary election, defeating his 5 competitors, namely; Matua Mike who garnered 5,056 votes, Mawa John Okole who got 3,008 votes, Musema M. Bruce who garnered 8,515 votes, Munduru Emilly who got 1,881 votes and Deborah Jesuena who garnered 1,407 votes.

However, the 5 contestants who were unsatisfied by the outcome of the election results, decided to petition the NRM Tribunal seeking to nullify the victory of Hon Alioni Yorke Odria, a case which was heard on Sunday 3-August-2025 and dismissed on Wednesday 20-8-2025.

In a Judgment that was delivered by the panel at the Tribunal, they dismissed the petitions on grounds of having no substantial evidence to prove their allegations of voter bribery, intimidation and altercation of election results.

This decision by the NRM Tribunal has formally exonerated Hon Alioni Yorke Odria as the official NRM Party Flag bearer for Aringa South Constituency MP position 2026 - 2031.

Stay tuned.
