WILFRED BABANGA ERIMA MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, TEREGO EAST CONSTITUENCY. 26 TH August 2026 The Burnt government infrastructure at Imvepi Refugee Settlement.  I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate loss of life and the senseless burning of the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) offices, police buildings and property in Imvepi Refugee Settlement on 25 th August 2026. I strongly condemn this act of violence and destruction of Government property. While I acknowledge that the unrest is linked to dissatisfaction over the Refugee Welfare Council elections, burning offices and taking lives is not the way to resolve grievances. The NRM Party Chairperson for Yumbe District Mr Aniku Majid and the NRM Admin Mr Adiga Rasul have been arrested and detained in Yumbe District Central Police Station on orders of the State Minister for Information, Communication, Technology and National Guidance, Hon Alioni York Odria. President Museveni has called on National Resistance Movement (NRM) Members of Parliament to uphold integrity, strengthen internal party democracy, and intensify the war on corruption, warning that graft at both local and national levels continues to undermine public trust and economic growth. Addressing the NRM Parliamentary Caucus on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Speke Resort Munyonyo, the NRM National Chairman instructed lawmakers to actively monitor government programmes and expose officials squandering public funds. 3-August-2026. 📸: Burned Hand of the Child.  Police at Jinja Road Division are actively investigating a case of child torture that occurred on 1st August 2026 at K3, Kyambogo, Nakawa Division, Kampala District. The victim is a four-year-old female child. Preliminary findings indicate that the child was allegedly scalded with hot water from a kettle by her biological mother, identified as Zabaki Maklean. It is alleged that the suspect assaulted the child after accusing her of eating rice in her absence. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the suspect, who is currently on the run. The Uganda Police Force strongly condemns all forms of child abuse and torture. We urge parents, guardians, and all caregivers to protect children and resolve disciplinary issues without resorting to violence.
