📸: The DPC Addressing the Gathering During the Event.  The outgoing District Police Commander (DPC) of Oyam District, SP Francis Okongo, has advised police officers to supplement their office work with farming as a way of reducing the temptation to solicit bribes from suspects or complainants.  Speaking yesterday 21-6-2026 at Rainbow Hotel–Oyam during his farewell, Okongo urges officers not to rely solely on handling files, which can expose them to unethical practices, but to venture into farming as an additional source of income to ease financial pressures.  Okongo also applauds political leaders of Oyam for the cooperation that prevented the district from registering any election-related crime during the just concluded election period.  This week, the Inspector General of Police transferred Okongo from Oyam District to Kabalagala Police Station after serving in Oyam for eight months.  He will be replaced by SP Sydney Aikoyo, formerly of Kabalagala...

A few months ago, he started dating the landlord's daughter. When the landlord found out, he was furious. He told Akram to pack his things and leave by the end of the week. Akram is shocked because he has done nothing wrong. Is it illegal to date the landlord’s daughter? WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY? No, a landlord cannot evict you simply because you are dating their daughter. Under the law, a landlord must have a valid legal reason before evicting you from a rented house. The Parliamentary Appointments Committee has rejected the appointment of Prof. Lawrence Muganga as State Minister for Internal Affairs, with concerns over his dual citizenship emerging as the decisive factor during his vetting. The committee revealed that Muganga, who holds both Ugandan and Canadian citizenship, pledged to renounce his Canadian citizenship if approved for the ministerial position. However, a majority of committee members remained unconvinced that the commitment was sufficient to satisfy constitutional and legal requirements governing eligibility for certain public offices.
