Stakeholders Welcome and Applaud PHASE Organization as It Takes Another Clean Water Projects to Maracha.

Various stakeholders ranging from politicians, religious leaders and technical officials in Maracha District have on Friday 7-August-2026 welcomed and extended their words of applause to PHASE Organization for taking for them another shallow water well project in this year 2026 on top of another water projects they received from the same organization in the previous years in 2025, 2024 and in that same year 2024 and 2023 a relief food aid (rice, sugar, cooking oil and posho) donation project for the elderly and vulnerable people in the District.
Maracha District which has a strategic 5-years (2023 to 2028) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Somalia-based NGO, PRAGMATIC HELP ACHIEVING SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT (PHASE) Organization whose funder is a Canadian based donor, INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND RELIEF FOUNDATION (iDRF) and have been operational across East African countries, is this time 2026 getting shallow water well projects to be constructed in selected Sub-counties of Maracha East Constituency, Maracha District in addition to rehabilitation or reconstruction of some of the few shallow wells in 1 or 2 Sub-counties whose wells weren't successfully dug and constructed in the previous year due to emergence of huge stones underneath the land where water was spotted.
The Councilor representing the people of Maracha Town Council to the district council, Hon Ariaka Vincent who explained lack of access to safe water and medicines as one of the challenges facing the people in Maracha District, requested the private engineers who are going to construct the Shallow Wells, to at least buy high quality and durable pipes and other materials so that the water facilities can last for some years before the beneficiaries undertaking repairs on them.
Elibo Geoffrey, a staff working at PHASE Organization headquartered in Somalia, instilled confidence in the stakeholders in the district that they are capable and determined to complete the project work within One Month.
He appealed for unity from the stakeholders, especially the local labourers who are going to be hired by the contracted Engineers to participate in excavation and construction of the shallow wells in each Sub-county.
LC3 Chairperson for Alikua Sub-county, Hon Edema Robert Peterson expressed gratitude to PHASE Organization for bringing them another water project and also fixing the water points in some areas that were blocked by emerging stones underneath the earth.
The LC3 Chairperson emphasized on how much these water projects lobbied by Mr Aduma Yeero Justus through PHASE Organization have helped many communities.
“Recently I was at a funeral of my uncle's daughter who was a Nurse and died in Masaka City and her body was brought to Okuvu in Alikua Sub-county for the funeral and burial! I found the mourners fetching water from the Shallow Well PHASE Organization constructed at Okuvu. I was the COC Chairperson for that funeral and I heard all the appraisal and words of thanks people spoke for PHASE Organization over the shallow well”, Hon Edema noted, explaining that, the shallow well water project benefited those people during the moment when the Borehole at Okuvu primary school isn't functioning due to some mechanical faults inside it.
While raising concerns over the sustainability and maintenance of the shallow wells that are constructed in the form of Boreholes, Rev Denis Adoroti, the parish priest for Maracha town parish appealed to the stakeholders to task the community beneficiaries of the water projects to collect at least 500 Shs per family in every month so that it can be saved to help the communities in hiring someone to lock and guard them and also at the same time, such little monies collected could be used for repairing the water facilities in case of technical faults.
Maracha District LC5 Chairperson Hon Wanni Emmanuel cautioned the LC3 Chairpersons not to own the water projects as something lobbied by them.
“Now that campaigns and elections are over, therefore you LC3 Chairpersons should not own this water project established by PHASE Organization”, Hon Wanni cautioned while appealing to some of the LC3 Chairpersons whose Sub-counties have fair water coverage, to have understanding and surrender their own shares from this year's water project, to other Sub-counties with worse water coverage.
The country director and also the Program and Technical manager for PHASE Organization, Mr Aduma Yeero Justus who first made his opening remarks by briefing members in the meeting about the emphasis, mission, plans and the previous / ongoing projects on education / technical schools, healthcare, sanitation and water construction which PHASE Organization with funding from iDRF partakes across East African Countries, requested the leaders and communities to also join PHASE Organization in monitoring construction of the Shallow Wells in order to avoid delays or shoddy works from the project.
Once constructed and commissioned for consumption, Mr Aduma advised the communities to form a water user committee and start some monthly contributions of maximumly, 500 Shs per family and the committee saves the money to cater for repair services just in case the water facility develops a mechanical fault after some years of usage.
