Court Orders Former Aruu County MP Hon Odonga Otto to Pay UGX 22M in Costs Over His 2021 Election Petition Against the Victory of Hon Komakech Christopher.

29-4-2026. 📸: Hon Odonga Otto, Former MP for Aruu County.  The High Court sitting in Agago District has ordered former Aruu County Member of Parliament Samuel Odonga-Otto to pay more than Shillings 22 million in legal costs to incumbent MP Christopher Komakech and the Electoral Commission of Uganda following a long-running election dispute stemming from the 2021 parliamentary polls. The ruling, delivered yesterday, arose from taxation proceedings conducted by Deputy Registrar Betty Ajok.  The proceedings were aimed at enforcing an earlier Court of Appeal of Uganda decision that awarded costs to Komakech and the Electoral Commission after overturning a High Court ruling that had nullified Komakech’s election victory. Don't put Government Between Us and Our Children Back Home, - Says Ugandans in the Diaspora as They Reject the "Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026".

Bank of Uganda Rejects "Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026".

Restricting cross border inflows such as foreign investment, remittances and portfolio capital will reduce the resources Uganda uses to finance imports and build reserves," he said on Tuesday 28-4-2026 while appearing before the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Legal Affairs.  He warned that once such inflows fall, Uganda could have a substantial depreciation of its currency, and running down reserves would pose an economic disaster for the country. Terego District Blocked Journalists from Covering Special Council Sitting Intended to Approve District Service Commission Members.

The speaker of Terego district council Hon.Olema Casto, today Tuesday 21-4-2026 blocked journalists from covering a crucial council meeting meant to constitute the district service commission. The closed door decision follows sharp disagreements among leaders over who should chair the commission. Earlier Lc5 chairperson Wilfred Saka had preferred Rev. Confusion as Masindi man resurfaces alive a day after ‘his burial ceremony’.

21-4-2026 Residents of Masindi Municipality were left in shock after a man who had been announced dead resurfaced alive, just hours after a body believed to be his had been buried. Godwin Baguma, a resident of Kijura Central Cell in Central Division, had reportedly gone missing for weeks, causing anxiety among family members and neighbours. According to the family, Baguma, who is said to have a mental health condition, disappeared without informing anyone, prompting a frantic search. The situation took a tragic turn over the weekend when the family received information that police had recovered a decomposing body from a sugarcane plantation in Kisanja Cell on Friday. The body was taken to Masindi Hospital mortuary, where announcements were made for people with missing persons to help with identification. Baguma’s father, Mr Yakobo Kamuturaki, said after receiving information on Sunday, he sent his sons to the mortuary to verify whether the body belonged to his missing son. ...

Hon Oguzu Lee Denis Drags to Court, Maracha Constituency MP-Elect Uhuru Nelson and Electoral Commission.
