Judge Shot Dead in Court by a Man on Trial in Albania.

Albania. Wednesday 8- October-2025. 📸:  The shooting occurred during a hearing at Tirana's Court of Appeals on Monday 6-October-2025. Judge Astrit Kalaja died en route to hospital, officials said, while two others involved in the hearing over a property dispute - a father and son - were shot but sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Police said they had arrested a 30-year-old male suspect who they identified by the initials "E Sh", but Albanian media have named as Elvis Shkëmbi. Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama offered his condolences to Judge Kalaja's family, adding: "The criminal aggression against the judge undoubtedly requires the most extreme legal response toward the aggressor." He also called for stricter security within the country's courts and harsher punishments for the illegal possession of weapons. Former DRC Congo President Joseph Kabila Sentenced to Death by Military Court.

Lieutenant General Joseph Mutombo Katalayi, who presided over the military tribunal, said on Tuesday 30-9-2025 that Kabila was convicted of various crimes, including treason, crimes against humanity, murder, sexual assault, torture and insurrection. “In applying Article 7 of the Military Penal Code, it imposes a single sentence, namely the most severe one, which is the death penalty,” Katalayi said while delivering the verdict. By Oguzu Lee 23-9-2025.  As 2026 elections approach and party loyalists assemble to celebrate yet another architecture of false achievements, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) will unveil a manifesto that boldly proposes to "protect gains" that exist primarily in the alternative universe of political propaganda. While the ruling party's narrative of progress and prosperity grows increasingly detached from the daily experiences of ordinary Ugandans, it is crucial to examine the underlying causes of these disconnects and explore potential solutions by critically looking at sectors that matter. Protecting the Gains is nothing else except attempt to whitewash failure framed as success.  For instance under health sector, what gain will the NRM be protecting exactly?
