Arua City.
6-October-2025.
Following the 17-7-2025 NRM Party primary election for Parliamentary positions, which produced the results as follows; Hon Osoru Mourine the winner garnered 26,041 votes, Samanya Daphine Draza came in the second position after she garnered 14,000 votes, and Princess Sheila Obia was the third candidate with 9,520 votes out of three contestants, Samanya Daphine Draza this time made a surprising comeback to tussle again as an independent candidate, this time with Candle as her symbol in the race for Arua City woman MP position in the upcoming January 2026 general election.
Her return journey into Uganda comes at a time when some politicians generated allegations that, she had bowed out of Arua City woman MP election and that is why she went abroad.
Having gone to Germany weeks ago to undertake some important programs, Daphine who is a teacher by profession, has jetted back into Uganda and she will be contesting against two other candidates Mrs Princess Sheila Obia (Independent) and the incumbent Hon Osoru Mourine (NRM) who has so far served for two terms (10 years) as the woman MP for Arua City.

Maliamungu Rogers, a voter in Ayivu West Constituency welcomed Samanya Daphine Draza’s return into the race, argue that, the 17-7-2025 NRM party primary election was not free and fair, henceforth altercating the will and wish of the people exercised through that process of voting by lining.
“We want our sister Daphine to comeback for the election because if you take the primary election, it was not all that good”, Maliamungu stated as he expects her to transform the youths in Arua City by investing equally in them by offering for them skilling trainings rather than what some politicians do by distributing 200,000 Shs per village and yet it would not have an impact on the Youths or the households.

While distributing and installing the billboard-sized photos of Samanya Daphine Draza in Ayivu West, Ayivu East and Arua Central Division, Mr Atiku Godfrey aka Papa Wemba who is the Campaign Task Force Chairman for the team, demystified the allegation that, Samanya Daphine had quit the race for the Woman MP election 2026 - 2031.
“There has been some propaganda that, the Elders in Ayivu clan have stopped Samanya Daphine from contesting in the woman MP race! I must tell you people, that is a lie”, Atiku noted in his brief statement to some group of her supporters in Arua City as he further elaborated that, Daphine was away in Germany for some programs and she has now jetted back into Uganda.

Another Youth, Andama Bosco who praised Businessman Draza Moses for his invaluable contribution in WestNile region and his good character which has extended into his daughter Samanya Daphine Draza, welcomed her return into the Arua City Woman MP election competition.
Andama who decried various leader’s neglecting of the boy-child when it comes to skilling, counseling and other opportunities, expressed optimism that, if Daphine Draaza wins the 12-January-2026 election to become the woman MP in 2026 - 2031, she can be able to do gender balance and equal opportunities when it comes to challenges affecting the Youths and Women.
With only less than three weeks for the official nomination of Parliamentary Candidates, Samanya Daphine Draza and other candidates who will be nominated for the race, will have an uphill task in canvassing for votes in the various Wards / parishes in Arua City.
Sloganeered under “A VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS. A LEADER FOR THE PEOPLE”, Samanya Daphine Draza whose campaign symbol is now a Candle, which symbolizes offering a leadership with light but not leadership of darkness, she is trying to present herself as the best Candidate with a strong voice who will be able to represent, present, articulate and debate on the floor of Parliament and in another given forums, the challenges affecting the people of Arua City which has a population of over 300,000 people including the urban poor and urban refugees.
