📸: One of the Trucks with Livestocks from other regions whom WE-CAN Organization and WNLTA Officials impounded last weekend at Odramacaku market, Uganda - DRC Boarder.📸: The office of WE-CAN Organization.On a 4-paged letter dated 5-July-2026, WestNile Compensation Advocacy Network (WE-CAN) Organization in a 5-years Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with WestNile Livestock Traders Association (WNLTA), are set to begin regulating the movement, purchase and sale of Animals which enter into WestNile region markets.
📸: A copy of the 4-page document.The decision as a result of a strategic partnership between WE-CAN Organization and WestNile Livestock Traders Association comes after the traders are faced with numerous challenges including among others, security intercepting their trucks with animals enroute from Acholi and Lango Sub-regions to WestNile region, and also connivance by livestock traders from Acholi and Lango to hijack the trade by traveling to Arua City and directly sale their animals to Congolese livestock traders instead of selling to those in WestNile region as it used to be the tradition in the past decades.

Photo by Osuta Yusuf, Our News Reporter.Following their worst incident in June-2026 where WestNile Livestock Traders who were traveling with their animals purchased from Acholi Sub-region were intercepted with their truck at Kololo roadblock in Nwoya District and taken to a Military barracks for about 7 days and many of their animals died during that period before they were later released to proceed with their journey to Arua City, the Chairperson for WestNile Region Livestock Traders Association, Mr Okiror Patrick Koshia Adrabo noted that, it's upon some of these challenges which taught them to start forming the association and also ensure that, their members are legitimately registered and cooperate with other regions and also the government guidelines regarding the livestock trade.

Photo by Osuta Yusuf.Andama Richard, the Director for WestNile Compensation Advocacy Network (WE-CAN) Organization, upon outlining their recommendations that will focus on regulating the Livestock trade in the region, stated that, the government of Uganda is losing a lot of revenue because of the direct and untaxed livestock business traders from other regions sneak directly with them to DRC Congo.
