Terego District Blocked Journalists from Covering Special Council Sitting Intended to Approve District Service Commission Members.

The speaker of Terego district council Hon.Olema Casto, today Tuesday 21-4-2026 blocked journalists from covering a crucial council meeting meant to constitute the district service commission.

The closed door decision follows sharp disagreements among leaders over who should chair the commission. Earlier Lc5 chairperson Wilfred Saka had preferred Rev. Monsignor Mosino Cosmas Alule, the parish priest of offude Catholic parish, but councilors instead backed Dr.Amandua Jacinto.

This special council meeting comes on the final day of 7- day ultimatum issued by minister of Local Government Raphael Magezi recently, for the district to form the commission.

The move to chase away the media has raised serious concerns about transparency and accountability in the council proceedings.

Lab Student Drowned, Body Missing in Rokoze Lake in Nyadri Sub-county, Maracha District.
