Uhuru Nelson Sets Record to Become the First NRM Candidate Elected for MP Seat in Maracha Constituency.

Following the recently concluded 15-1-2026 general election, the NRM party candidate for Maracha Constituency MP position, Uhuru Nelson emerged victorious after defeating the Incumbent MP Candidate Hon Oguzu Lee Denis, the FDC Party Candidate who has served the Constituency for two terms (10 years) from 2016 - 2021 and 2021 - 2026.
The 26-years-old Uhuru Nelson won the hearts of the voters after promising them job opportunities through establishing a technical school, fight against corruption, women empowerment and establishing secondary schools with constructions currently ongoing in Oluffe, Obiba and Kijomoro Sub-county.
Uhuru Nelson was declared the winner of the 15-1-2026 general election after he garnered 13,696 votes, followed by Independent candidate Obeta Moses Drakua who garnered 9,247 votes, the incumbent MP Hon Oguzu Lee Denis (FDC) fell in the third position after he got 3,290 votes, Eng. Aguta Sam (Independent) got 686 votes and Musician Agadribo Emmanuel aka Monopoly fell in the last position in the race after getting 363 votes.
The victory of Uhuru Nelson on NRM Party ticket marks a significant history in the political history of Maracha as the previous MPs served on UPC, FDC, Independent and FDC Party tickets
