“I forgive those blackmailing me in their Campaigns”, Says Independent MP Candidate Obeta Moses as He Vows to be the Last to be Blackmailed in Maracha Politics.

The Maracha Constituency MP Candidate, an NRM-leaning after the NRM party primary election, Obeta Moses Drakua who is contesting for the position of MP for Maracha Constituency, has pledged to end the politics of abuses and blackmail in Maracha by being the last to be the victim of such a bad politics in the political history of Maracha District.
What you need to know;
⚫ In 2016 MP election campaign for Maracha Constituency Oguzu Lee Denis (FDC Party candidate) was blackmailed as a child with a lot of mucus in his nose unfortunately, he defeated the then Incumbent MP Hon Alex Onzima Adrooa and those other candidates who blackmailed him
⚫ In 2021 election campaign for Maracha District Woman MP position, the then NRM Candidate Driwaru Jennifer was blackmailed because of her poverty, as someone who survives on selling Cassava Pulp (Ayuku) to fund her campaign, a blackmail which angered the population to overwhelmingly vote for her to become the woman MP.
⚫ Again in the same year 2021, the then NRM party candidate, Ruth Lematia Molly Ondoru was blackmailed because of her age and health status, as someone who can't run to catch mere Duck, a blackmail which also made her to win the general election to become the MP for Maracha East Constituency, defeated the then Incumbent MP Hon Acidri James and other candidates who were alleged to be involved in blackmailing her.
⚫ Prior to campaigns for 17-7-2025 NRM party primary election and the continuing campaign for the upcoming 15-1-2026 general election, the majority campaign Agents of the NRM Party Candidate Uhuru Nelson have entirely zeroed on blackmailing the Independent MP Candidate Obeta Moses Drakua throughout their campaign rallies. Not only the camp of the NRM MP Candidate alone, some other Candidates for the MP race are said to have not spared using their campaigns to blackmail Obeta Moses Drakua.
In his efforts of fostering forgiveness, peace and unity throughout his campaign rallies despite the blackmails and abuses often directed against him by his fellow MP Candidates, Obeta Moses Drakua has promised to end the politics of blackmail in the political history of Maracha District, if he is voted to become the MP for Maracha Constituency in the upcoming 15-1-2026 general election for 2026 - 2031 term of office.
Obeta, who is a staunch NRM party cadre and a farmer whom President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni personally visited in his farm in 2023, has repeatedly continued to emphasize on “Cohesion” which is one of the key principles and values in the Constitution of the NRM party.
“If I am voted to become the MP, how will you feel after focusing your energy on abusing and blackmailing me throughout your campaign rallies?. Or if I fail and you win to become the MP, how will you feel on wishing to work together with me and my agents after you abused and blackmailed me in your campaign rallies?”, smiley face Obeta asked as the crowd that gathered to listen to his campaign manifesto, kept on clapping hands for him, a gesture which is a sign of majority of the voters detesting abuses and blackmails in political campaigns.
The 56-years-old Moses Obeta who decried the extreme level of blackmails being preached against him in the campaign rallies of his opponents and then the videos widely circulated on Social Media, stated that, such kind of behaviors and campaign strategies set a bad precedence in politics if it is not addressed and tamed.
With the proverb of ‘The Violent Takes It by Force’, henceforth breeding politicians suitable for igniting such environment of violence during campaigns, Obeta expressed his fears by saying that, “If we don't stop this but we all just laugh or keep silent and watch as Politicians blackmail, abuse and tear themselves apart in campaign rallies, it will set a bad record because majority of the population will think, for someone to win a Political position, they must engage in abusing and blackmailing their opponents”, he stressed.
He added that such a method of politics will reach in some years later when people will even start physical fighting in rallies because we kept silent when violence was brewing through constant political blackmails and abuses.
In his conclusion remarks, Obeta Moses laughed off the blackmails against him, stating that the blackmails have not affected his health or his reasoning capacity and he has remained healthy as the way he was in the past.
