Angry Crowd Chased Ofekua Gabriel Over Graft Syndicate Claims

National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party leadership in Maracha District has on Tuesday 9-Dec-2025 survived attack from angry youths in Okokoro Town Council over improper accountability stemming from the said 35m Shs facilitation monies that were given for mobilization towards President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign in the district on 14-10-2025.

The violence against the party leadership over lack of transparency and proper accountability, took place on Tuesday at Oribani Primary School playground in Anyafio cell, Poo Ward, Okokoro Town Council, Maracha Constituency during NRM Party structure campaigns for its flag Bearers for Local Council positions, Parliamentary and Presidential position.

It's alleged that, the NRM party officials in the district embezzled 25m Shs out of the 35m Shs meant for mobilization facilitation for village and Parish NRM party structure officials and another 3m Shs that was meant for buying Biscuits, Water and Soda for the crowd that came to attend President Museveni’s campaign on 14-10-2025 in Maracha District.

Rowdy youths who busted into anger, forced  the Maracha District NRM party Chairperson Ofeku Gabriel to sit down over fear of being lynched by the Youths who kept shouting and yelling at him, accusing him of lack of accountability.

The continued disruption and noise from the crowd which made Ofeku Gabriel to lose his temper by angrily saying he would go away if the youths continued to disrupt and stop him from speaking, the Youths responded to his emotional comment, saying he should just go away.

However, in some recent meeting with Sub-county NRM Chairpersons and also in other campaign rallies in the district, Ofeku Gabriel, the NRM party Chairperson for the district defended himself by presenting and sharing copies of a document from NRM Party secretariat indicating allocation of budgets to all the 13 districts of West Nile region.

“When I contested for the position of NRM Chairperson for Maracha district, I told you people,my hands do not have super glues that would stick money”, Ofeku defended himself as he distributed copies of the regional budget allocation from the Secretariat, which is contrary to the principles of accountability.

While shouting President Museveni Oyeeee, NRM Oyeee, the rowdy youths in Okokoro Town Council refused to bow down to Security and local leader's plea of calm, until they shutdown Ofeku Gabriel from speaking to them.
