Uhuru Nelson Condemns Politicians for Exploiting Women Groups, Says He Will Empower Them If Voted as MP in Maracha Constituency.

The NRM Party Candidate for Maracha Constituency MP election, Uhuru Nelson has on Tuesday 25-11-2025 castigated some politicians in Maracha District for using Women Groups in the district for their own selfish political gains.
While campaigning in Ayiko Parish, in Obiba Sub-county, the youthful Uhuru Nelson decried the alarming exploitation of Women through formation of Sacco Groups under the pretext of empowering them through some financial handouts.

Photo by Osuta Yusuf, Our News Reporter.In his speech to the crowd that gathered to listen to his manifesto, Uhuru referenced the Women in Koboko District as an example of real empowerment after several of them got financial donations from former Koboko Municipality MP, Minister Hon. Anite Evelyn and also from the Incumbent MP Hon Ayume Charles.
“When you look in our area here, some politicians hoodwink women to form Sacco groups and in which they are required to pay at least 20,000 Shs Per person to form Saccos under the pretext of promising to deposit for them money as capital monies after registration of the Saccos”, Uhuru stated as he pledged to bring real women empowerment in Maracha if he is elected as MP in the upcoming 15-1-2026 general election.
As the campaigns heat up ahead of 15-1-2026 general election for Presidential and Parliamentary positions in Uganda, it should be noted that, the Electoral Commission of Maracha District on 22-Oct and 23-October-2025 duly nominated a total of 5 Candidates, Namely; Musician Agadribo Emmanuel aka Monopoly (NUP Party) candidate, Eng. Aguta Sam (Independent) candidate, Businessman / Farmer Obeta Moses Drakua (Independent) candidate, Incumbent Hon. Oguzu Lee Denis (FDC Party) candidate and Mr. Uhuru Nelson (NRM Party) candidate to contest for the position of MP for Maracha Constituency for 2026 - 2031 term of office.
