Following continuous outcries from the public over unfair and unequal distribution of Parish Development Module (PDM) money to the beneficiaries in Maracha District ever since its Countrywide official launch by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in 2022, the NRM Party Candidate for Maracha Constituency MP election, Uhuru Nelson has castigated some officials in Maracha District for using segregative and unequal method of selecting and paying the beneficiaries of the program.

The remarks were made at Talia, Robu Parish in Awiziru Sub-county on Wednesday 19-11-2025, where the NRM party MP Candidate Mr Uhuru who is canvassing for votes ahead of 15-1-2026 general election, criticized some of the officials in Maracha District for taking advantage of people's ignorance on access to news and information, as a gimmick to cheat them on the amounts each beneficiary is supposed to get from the government program aimed at alleviating poverty from household levels in Uganda.

“President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been clear in his message on the amount each PDM beneficiary is supposed to get, most especially 1 million Shs Per person and refund it after 2 years”, Mr Uhuru quoted President Museveni as he blames the underpayment of the monies for the beneficiaries, to some few officials taking advantage of the ignorance of the people.

Based on several testimonies in the public over extortion of monies from peasants by some PDM officials under the disguise of facilitating the registration process of getting their money, Uhuru Nelson blamed it on lack of proper oversight caused by leadership gap that has been created by some of the leaders who are supposed to play their roles by monitoring government projects.

“My people, I have come to tell you, the time for those officials coming here to cheat us over our money is over!”, Uhuru affirmed in his submission to hundreds of voters who had gathered to listen to his message and manifesto as he urged them to vote for him as the solution that will fight that problem caused by poor leadership.

As the campaigns heat up ahead of 15-1-2026 general election for Presidential and Parliamentary positions in Uganda, it should be noted that, the Electoral Commission of Maracha District on 22-Oct and 23-October-2025 duly nominated a total of 5 Candidates, Namely; Musician Agadribo Emmanuel aka Monopoly (NUP Party) candidate, Eng. Aguta Sam (Independent) candidate, Businessman / Farmer Obeta Moses Drakua (Independent) candidate, Incumbent Hon. Oguzu Lee Denis (FDC Party) candidate and Mr. Uhuru Nelson (NRM Party) candidate to contest for the position of MP for Maracha Constituency for 2026 - 2031 term of office.

Stay tuned.
