Photo by Osuta Yusuf, Our News Reporter.The Maracha Constituency MP Candidate who is contesting as an Independent Candidate, has promised to end the syndrome of forcefully clinging on to the position of Member of Parliament until the person is voted out after a fierce and tedious campaign battle instead of willingly stepping down after serving the people for maximum of two terms in Parliament.

Photo by our news Reporter Osuta Yusuf.In his address to the crowd that gathered at Lamila Ciru primary school playground in Okokoro Town Council on Monday 17-11-2025, Obeta Moses Drakua stated that he wants to end this self entitlement of feeling this MP position only belongs to me and whoever wants it must grab it by force.
As the campaigns heat up ahead of 15-1-2026 general election for Presidential and Parliamentary positions in Uganda, it should be noted that, the Electoral Commission of Maracha District on 22-Oct and 23-October-2025 duly nominated a total of 5 Candidates, Namely; Musician Agadribo Emmanuel aka Monopoly (NUP Party) candidate, Eng. Aguta Sam (Independent) candidate, Businessman / Farmer Obeta Moses Drakua (Independent) candidate, Incumbent Hon. Oguzu Lee Denis (FDC Party) candidate and Mr. Uhuru Nelson (NRM Party) candidate to contest for the position of MP for Maracha Constituency for 2026 - 2031 term of office.
