Photo by Osuta Yusuf, Our News Reporter.The Maracha Constituency MP Candidate, Obeta Moses Drakua who is contesting as Independent Candidate for the MP seat, has on Thursday 13-11-2025 rallied the people of Ovujo Town Council and the other two town councils, Okokoro and Agaii Town council, to support the creation of Ovujo Municipality which is to be curved out of Maracha Constituency.
The appeal by Obeta Moses comes at a time when Rtd CAO Hon. Tivu Mark, Former Maracha County MP Hon Olubo Magara, together with other stakeholders, held several consultative meetings to strategize and mobilise support for creation of Ovujo Municipality, a matter which sparked controversy from some people in the district and the councilors, and it has made the matter to be stuck in Maracha District council pending final recommendation from 8-member technical committee which was constituted to conduct technical assessment and evaluation to be presented to the district council for debate.
📸: The crowd listening to the message of Obeta Moses.While passing out his campaign message to the crowd that gathered at Opi's ground in Ovujo Town Council, Obeta Moses Drakua requested the residents and the various councils to backup the resolution of creating Ovujo Municipality, noting that, having a Municipality comes up with numerous advantages and benefits in terms of job creation among others.
He however criticized some people and politicians in the district for frustrating the process of creating the Municipality.

Photo by Our News Reporter Osuta Yusuf.Roy James, a Voter in Ovujo Town Council who welcomed Moses Obeta's appeal for creation of Ovujo Municipality, described him as the right person if elected as MP, he can be able to solicit for more support and secure creation of the Municipality in the next term of office.
Apparently, Maracha District with a total population of 240,000 people and 19 Sub-counties, is represented in Parliament by three MPs in the position of District Woman MP, Maracha Constituency and Maracha East Constituency.
