⚫️ The 16-7-2025 NRM Party primary elections seek to identify one candidate who will become the party's flag bearer.
⚫️ The NRM Party flag bearer will compete with Independent candidates and Other opposition Candidates who will be nominated by the Independent Electoral Commission to tussle in the February 2026 general elections for those positions.
In an applauding twist of events, hundreds and thousands of people gathered from one venue to another starting from the border of Koboko and Yumbe, to welcome their incumbent Member of Parliament Hon Alioni Yorke Odria after his successful nomination at the NRM Party secretariat last week to go and contest in the upcoming 16-7-2025 Parliamentary primary elections of National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
The sign of a big political statement started in Arua City, when a crowd of some Aringati speaking youths blocked Hon Alioni on the road between California Bus Company booking office and KKT Plaza building, asking him to share a word with them before proceeding to Yumbe District.
During an interview with our news reporter, Buni Shafique, a youth in Kulikulinga Town Council noted that he has much to say, but he only prays for Hon Odria so that he can lead them more for some years to come.
A voter in Luluwiri village, Odravu West Sub-county in Aringa South Constituency, Candiru Irene who joined the excited crowd to welcome Hon Odria, thanked him for being at the help of their community.
“We have benefited a lot from Hon Odria through his initiatives of promoting education by offering scholarships for some of the vulnerable children in Aringa South Constituency”, Irene stated while appealing for the people to overwhelmingly vote for him in the upcoming elections.
Hon Alioni Yorke Odria whose remarkable work record has so far earned him 2 terms (10 years) as MP and he is seeking reelection to retain the Aringa South County MP flagbearership in the upcoming 16-7-2025 NRM primary elections and thereafter the MP seat on the NRM party ticket come February 2026 general elections, thanked the people of Aringa South Constituency, Yumbe District for entrusting him with their power and votes to lead and serve them.
With only 3 Aspirants nominated to contest against Hon Alioni Yorke in the upcoming 16-7-2025 NRM Party primary elections, Hon Odria described his opponents as people without an agenda and a manifesto for the people.
“As I was doing the official work you my voters sent me for, some people came here to start moving without an agenda and only focusing on my name”, Hon Odria scoffed at them amidst cheers and handclaps from the excited crowd.
The incumbent, who was overwhelmed by joy by the warm mammoth crowd that offered him a glittering reception of hope and love, pledged to do more for the community if they re-elect him again.
“My people of Aringa South, I am not here to campaign but just to greet you people and tell you, I have finally been nominated by the NRM Party electoral commission to come and vie for this position! However, I should pledge to you that, if I am reelected, I will make sure any child who passes with first grade in PLE, will get full scholarship from S.1 up to S.6 courtesy of me”, Hon Odria reiterated.
Another voter, Ejoga Hamza, who has never physically attended the rally of Hon Odria, described him as a leader with footprints.
“I have been seeing and hearing a lot about Hon Alioni Yorke Odria and his achievements but I had not gotten the time to listen and attend his rally. But with this massive turnout of the people and his achievements, I think Hon Odria deserves more years to serve us because of the achievements he has done for our Constituency”, says the youthful Ejoga, who seemed to have never supported Hon Odria but got convinced by the massive crowd to support him.
As the NRM party primary election campaigns are set to kickstart on 1-July-2025 and the voting by Lining will be on 16-July-2025, a total of 4 candidates have been duly nominated by the NRM Party Secretariat Kampala to contest for the Aringa South Constituency MP seat.
