DECLARATION OF INTEREST
Date: 12th June 2025
Location: NRM Secretariat, Kampala

Today, I officially expressed my interest at the NRM Secretariat in Kampala to contest as the NRM flag bearer for Maracha East Constituency. This marks a significant milestone in my journey to formally offer myself in service to the people of Maracha East.

There is an urgent need for transformational leadership, especially from younger leaders who are in touch with the real challenges faced by our people in today's dynamic world. The way the world approaches issues has changed drastically due to emerging technologies and artificial intelligence (AI). If we do not address these shifts early, our region risks being left behind. In 30 years, we could become the new version of what Karamoja was once labelled—not in terms of clothing or tradition, but in terms of poverty, technological exclusion, and lack of education.

Whether it is me or another leader, there must be a deliberate and urgent effort to transform our economy from subsistence farming to productive, market-oriented agriculture. The only sustainable way to lift our people out of poverty is through empowering them to produce, not merely to survive but to thrive.

We must replace the over-reliance on the flopped tobacco farming with high-value cash crops such as coffee, cocoa, and avocado. These crops offer better income and long-term sustainability. Only then will families afford school fees, reduce the high school dropout rates, and improve living standards across the constituency.

The NRM government’s programs are meaningful, particularly initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM). However, these programs need to be backed by strong lobbying, strategic planning, and grassroots mobilization to be effective in truly transforming lives.

I look forward to meaningful engagements in the upcoming elections and invite all stakeholders to join hands in building a prosperous Maracha East and west Nile a large.
