Cultural elders from 5 clans of Anyanzipi clan, Orivu clan, Anyavu clan, Acu clan, and Egamara clan, all in Alikua Sub-county, have on Tuesday, 29-4-2025 prayed and blessed Mr Amandu Tahiri Karim in his bid for Maracha East Constituency MP seat 2026 - 2031 on NRM Party ticket.
The event, which was graced by thousands of gatherings, comes at a time when the people have been requesting for him to contest as an MP so that he can address the challenges affecting their communities.
Married to one wife and having 5 children, Mr. Amandu Tahiri Karim, whose campaign slogan is “Alio Onzi (Poverty is Bad)”, is a teacher by profession and he has been working as a Commissioner in the Ministry of Education in South Sudan, at the same time, he is also a business mogul in South Sudan and Uganda who has spent his time and resources in helping the poor people and building churches and Mosques in Maracha.

LC3 Chairperson for Alikua Sub-county, Hon Edema Robert Peterson who started his welcoming remarks by explaining the meaning of the name of the main Clan ALARAPI, meaning PEACE, described Amandu Tahiri Karim as a peaceful, kind and generous person in his entire life.
He advised some of his campaign agents not to bring confusion by mixing his campaigns with those of Women MP Aspirants.
“Mr. Tahiri, you are contesting in the Maracha East Constituency MP seat, and no Agent should bring in the issues of other politicians in the Woman MP race,” Hon Edema advised.

In his address at the Cultural Prayer session, Mr. Amandu Tahiri Karim pledged to exemplify the education sector in Maracha District by lobbying for resources and technical schools from the government and also from some of his already established friendships with foreigners and organizations he has worked with abroad if he is elected to become the MP for Maracha East Constituency 2026 - 2031.
“Research has revealed that thousands of our children join the school in Primary One, but the few who are lucky to complete P.7 remain stuck with nowhere to proceed due to financial challenges, among others”, he decried, as the district has no government-aided technical school.
With an already overstretched healthcare system, Tahiri also mentioned the challenges in the health sector as one of the reasons that prompted him to contest as the MP for Maracha East Constituency so that he can revamp it.

Hon Toko Patrick, who voluntarily resigned his position as the LC3 Chairperson for Tara Sub-county in the current 2021 - 2026 term of office, applauded Mr Amandu Tahiri Karim for acknowledging that Culture exists.
“In our society, modernization has brought education and religion, but unfortunately, it makes some people ignore and undermine Culture,” he stated while expressing his satisfaction with the conduct of Mr. Tahiri and also his plans and manifesto.

A university lecturer, Ejosiga Abdul Wahid an in-law to Amandu Tahiri Karim, thanked him for the approach he has taken with first having a cultural blessing before proceeding with the political ambition.
“What is called a leader will Kickstart his plans for a noble cause by first having a meeting with his own people”, he noted as he challenged the people of Alikua Sub-county to show support by voting for him so that, they as in-laws from Yumbe District will know indeed Amandu Tahiri has also been loved by his own people.
While speaking in parables, Mr Ejosiga equated Mr Tahiri's political aspiration to a rain that brings Whiteants for the people of Alikua Sub-county and Maracha East constituency.
“If it rains when you don't have Anthills, you will not catch white ants. But if you happen to be lucky, a neighbor may allow you but with some conditions for you to catch some White Ants so that you can go and fry to eat food with it”, Lecturer Ejosiga intimated, describing Amandu Tahiri Karim as a resourceful person for the people of Alikua Sub-county and Maracha East Constituency, from which many people and institutions will be benefiting from if he gets elected as their MP in the upcoming February-2026 general election.

Electoral Commission official at Alikua Sub-county, Mr. Afedra Lawrence Gbandaman, urged the crowd and Mr. Amandu Tahiri Karim to continue rallying his supporters to participate in the ongoing display of voters register by the Electoral Commission of Uganda so that they will not miss voting for the candidate of their choice in the upcoming February 2026 general elections.
“Many of you can gather here to show support and love for Mr. Amandu Tahiri Karim or any other MP Aspirant in Maracha East Constituency but if you do not go and check your name in the ongoing display of voters register, you will not be able to vote for him or candidate of your choice”, Mr. Afedra averred as he explained that, the law allows them to disseminate information on Civic Education in a gathering convened by any politician Aspiring for any position in Uganda.

So far, in Maracha East Constituency MP race, 13 Candidates have shown interest in contesting in the upcoming February 2026 general election, a seat that is currently occupied by Hon Ruth Lematia Molly Ondoru.
