Perspective on the Secretary General’s Visit to the Region
The NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong is visiting the region. However, as an NRM candidate in Maracha East, I have not received any formal communication from our party leaders regarding how his visit will be conducted or the key issues expected to be addressed. Is this a deliberate move to exclude some members from voicing their concerns? We seek guidance from the NRM district leadership of Maracha on this matter.
As the Secretary General of the NRM, Todwong’s visit to the region carries significant expectations, especially towards party elections:
Mobilization and Sensitization where the Secretary General is expected to rally party members and supporters to strengthen grassroots support and educate us on the party’s agenda.
What about listening to Grassroots Concerns, where he is supposed to meet with local leaders and members to address their concerns, challenges, and suggestions regarding party activities and governance? In Maracha District, impartiality among some NRM district leaders has been raised repeatedly. His presence should offer an opportunity to address these concerns openly and transparently.
Guidance on Internal Elections: As we approach the elections, the Secretary-General should provide guidance on the electoral process, including candidate selection, party primaries, and adherence to party regulations. This is crucial to ensure a fair and transparent process.
Unity and Reconciliation Efforts: The visit should focus on addressing internal conflicts or divisions within the party, promoting unity and collaboration among members. Maracha District, like many others, needs deliberate efforts to strengthen internal cohesion.
Monitoring Party Structures: The Secretary-General should evaluate the effectiveness of local party structures and encourage stronger organization at the grassroots level to ensure robust party performance.
Communication of Party Policies: It is essential that party policies and the central government’s agenda are communicated effectively to young cadres and all members to ensure alignment with the party’s vision and direction.
Lastly, it is important to assess whether voter registration was successful and address any gaps that may exist. Mobilizing voter support and encouraging active participation remains a priority
We look forward to clarity from the district leadership and hope that the Secretary General’s visit will strengthen the party’s presence and resolve any outstanding issues within Maracha East and the wider region.
