The angry youths from Vurra Parish, Tara Sub-county in Maracha East constituency, Maracha District have on Monday 3-Feb-2025 chased the entire Maracha District officials out of a site meeting in Kololo Seed Secondary over allegations of corruption stemming from the stalled seed school construction project.
Key Maracha District officials who went for the site meeting on Monday 3-Feb-2025 include, the Security department headed by the deputy RDC Koliba Monica Kotevu and Assistant RDC Collins Dramani, the LC5 Chairperson Hon Obitre Stephen together with his DEC Councilors, the accounting / technical department headed by the CAO Mr Olila Patrick, the Engineering department headed by District Engineer Ezati Timothy Maluma, Kololo Seed SSS BOG, the Headteacher and his staffs, PTA, the religious leaders among others.
The 1.9 billion Shs Kololo Seed Secondary School construction project whose 12 months contract period awarded to ACHORU United Traders Ltd in 2019, was marred with corruption allegations, shoddy and stalled works which led to arrest of Five Maracha District officials on Tuesday 14-6-2022, namely; Mr Candia Stephen (CFO), Mr Ezati Timothy Maluma (Acting District Engineer), Ms Flavia Osoa (DEO), Mr Abiribale T Paul (Internal Auditor) and Mr Oneti William (Senior Assistant Engineer) who were interdicted later on 19-9-2022 over Abuse of office and Mismanagement of public funds but they were reinstated back to office in April 2023 after serving 6 months interdiction period.
After a thorough assessment and evaluation of the works done on ground by the former Contractor ACHORU United Traders Ltd, government sent an additional money of 950 Million shs in 2024 for completion of the project at Kololo Seed Secondary School and the contract was awarded to a Kampala based company called Robech Engineering Solutions Ltd and it kicked off the work with a lot of efforts and the Contractor even in October 2024, promised to finish the works to have the project commissioned at the end of December 2024, only to have the work stalled in January 2025.

However, on Monday morning 3-Feb-2025 as the top Maracha District officials went to Kololo Seed Secondary School for a site meeting to diagnose why the work at the site has stalled for close to one month now, they were stormed and chased away by over 100 angry Youths who showed up with placards reading;
1. WE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION IN MARACHA
2. LC5 CHAIRMAN MUST RESIGN TODAY
3. CONSTRUCTION OF KOLOLO SSS IS GOING BACKWARDS DUE TO PAYMENTS WHICH ARE NOT DONE ON TIME MAKING WORKERS DEMORALIZED
4. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT MARACHA IS CORRUPT
5. OBITRE PLEASE WE ARE NOT ILLITERATE
6. WE ARE FIGHTING FOR KOLOLO PUBLIC SEED SECONDARY SCHOOL
7. PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION NRM SAVE TARA, were some of the words written on the placards the angry youths came with to stop the site meeting and chased away the district officials.

The Mob, after storming the meeting proceedings, only vowed to respect the officials from RDC's office because the office has been rigorously fighting corruption in Maracha District.
Mr Ben Abelea the LC1 Chairman for Kololo West Village, described the chaos as unfortunate as he together with Deputy RDC Monica and LC3 Chairperson Hon convinced the mobs to abandon the demonstration.
Tara Sub-county LC3 Chairperson Hon Obega Akwilino who was caught in the scuffle at Kololo Public Seed Secondary School, attributed the demonstration to concealment of information and unpaid monies of the workers.
“The last time site meetings were held here at Kololo Seed Secondary was in 2021”, the LC3 Chairperson said during an interview with our news reporter.

Deputy RDC for Maracha District, Koliba Monica Kotevu who was present at the meeting described the situatioMob. Tense and Terrifying, as it took her as the deputy RDC to calm down the angry mob.
She urged for calm from the public while taking into consideration their views that were raised during the rowdy demonstration at Kololo Public Seed Secondary School.
