The Returned Appropriation Bill 2024 By President Museveni Hasn't Violated the Constitution - Says Speaker Anita Among.

#Law Speaker Anita Annet Among also dispelled arguments that the return of the Appropriation Bill 2024 violates some provisions in the Constitution that mandates the President to return the bill within 30 days from date of passing by Parliament, saying after the Appropriation Bill 2024 was passed, it took Parliament 15days to send the Bill to the President, so the returned bill falls within the 30days time frame". "As per the notice issued by the Clerk on 26th June, 2024, the purpose of this sitting is for the reconsideration of the Appropriation Bill 2024 which was initially passed by this House on 26thMay 2024 and it was transmitted to the President on 31st May 2024, but it was returned by the President on 22nd June 2024. The return of the Bill was within the 30days as prescribed by Article 91(3) of the constitution," said Among.
