Former Yumbe District LC5 Chairman Hon Taban Yassin has urged the contractors in Yumbe District and WestNile region to adopt and catch up with the new procurement policy introduced by Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets (PPDA) which is a body responsible for procurement processes in Uganda government.
Following PPDA's Electronic Government Procurement System also known as the “eGP” which was first launched in July 2021 with few government entities and districts using it, and three years later, it was rolled across the country making it mandatory for agencies, organizations and companies to use it for procurement planning, bidding, evaluation, award, contract management, invoicing, and payment for supplies, works and services.
The former staunch politician, Hon Taban Yassin stated that, many contractors in Yumbe District have been left behind due to lack of sensitization over the new policy which is swiftly eliminating pre-qualification and advertisements in the procurement chain.
