Staunch FDC and NUP Party Members in Maracha District Defect to NRM Party.

Strong Opposition political party members and coordinators in Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and National Unity Platform (NUP) Party have on Tuesday 28-5-2024 officially joined National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party in Maracha District.


The five ardent Opposition members in Maracha District who crossed over to NRM party are; Maracha District FDC party Coordinator Mr Amvuku Peter Odwan from Paranga Sub-county, Mr Candia Felix (FDC party member) from Paranga Sub-county, Mr Alebu Timon (FDC party Member) from Nyadri Sub-county,  Mr Omuti Felix Taiso (NUP Member) from Tara Sub-county and Mr Andama Robert Balia (FDC Member) from Maracha town council.

Maracha District FDC Party Coordinator Mr Amvuku Peter Odwan who officially handed over all the FDC party registrers, Constitution and IDs to Maracha District NRM Chairman Mr Ofekua Gabriel and Deputy RDC Koliba Monica Kotevu, says, he was convinced by Mr Aduma Yeero Justus to join NRM party.

Mr Omuti Felix Taiso who changed to NUP after frustrating NRM party programs as he mobilized for FDC party for many years, upon narrating how he survived arrests and other threats to his life because of his zeal and ambition for Opposition, confessed that, he was convinced to join NRM party by his wife who received one cow through one of the Socio-economic Transformation programs in NRM government and the cow has multiplied to four now.

He added that his wife threatened to divorce him if he doesn't join the NRM party.

Mr Alebu Timon a passionate FDC party Member who became the regional coordinator for Amama Mbabazi the then Presidential Candidate in 2016 general election and later he turned to be WestNile region coordinator for Presidential candidate Gen Henry Tumukunde during 2021 general election, says, he discovered that, these Opposition politicians from Central Uganda just come to WestNile to confuse the people.

He lamented that, his continued stay in Opposition caused humiliation, isolation and denial of government services for people in his village

Maracha East Constituency MP Aspirant for 2026 general election, Mr Aduma Yeero Justus avered that, whenever he moves around the Sub-counties in the district for his consultative meetings, he preaches about the achievements and many other good things NRM party has done.

Maracha District NRM Chairman Mr Ofekua Gabriel stated that, he is hopeful, those who have defected from Opposition parties to NRM party will be hardworking more than those who have been in the NRM party.

The deputy RDC for Maracha District, Koliba Monica Kotevu who accused Opposition parties over aggressiveness towards the NRM government, pledged to make sure that those defectors from FDC and NUP will be protected from any form of threat and intimidation from opposition party members and supporters.




The National Resistance Movement (NRM) which is the party in government took over power in Uganda on 26-1-1986 after five years of guerilla war struggle.

Ambassador Angualia Richard Perished in a Fatal Accident.

Lab Student Drowned, Body Missing in Rokoze Lake in Nyadri Sub-county, Maracha District.

Photo by #Information_is_Power's news reporter.  This afternoon Friday 5-December-2025, a student from St Joseph Laboratory Training School in Maracha hospital, a one  Araku Denis drowned in Rokoze water body in Nyadri Sub-county and the  body has not been retrieved upto this night as the police and residents searched for it and in vain but they are expected to resume retrieving it tomorrow Saturday 6-December-2025. 📸: Photo of the deceased which we captured on his phone screen this night. Araku and his fellow students had  reportedly gone to pass time at water point after completing exams papers of today.
