Poo Clan Leader Mr Yokana Wadri Dies at 88.



Residents of Poo Clan, in Lamila,  Okokoro Town Council, Maracha constituency in Maracha District are this Saturday 23-9-2023 mourning the death of their clan leader Mr Wadri Yokana who was bedridden for weeks due to diarrhea and he died on 22-9-2023.

Born in 1935 to Mr Nderia and Mrs Marium Ayirua, Mr Yokana had 5 Children, of which, one died and four are alive.

He rose to position of leadership in 1972 as the then RC (Rural Council) and left it in 1976.

Mr Yokana was also a member of Lamila Clan elders council.

Locals remember him as a person of unity, love and good behavior.

Mr Jackson Mawa the LC1 Chairperson of Oshi Cell which was carved out of Poo village in 2020, advised mourners to remain united amidst creation of new administrative units.

He also cautioned parents to send their children to school as third term begins on Monday 25-9-2023 or they risk been arrested.


Okokoro Town Council LC III Chairperson Hon Mungueconi Gilbert decried the overcrowding of Out-Patient Department (OPD) in Kijomoro health centre III which he attributed to the new behavior of school children who these days pretend to be sick so that they can go and watch movies and TV series at the health facility.

Hon Gilbert asked PDM Committee officials and beneficiaries in Poo Ward to start holding their PDM meeting at Oribani primary school instead of holding it at Okokoro trading centre.

Lab Student Drowned, Body Missing in Rokoze Lake in Nyadri Sub-county, Maracha District.

Hon Oguzu Lee Denis Drags to Court, Maracha Constituency MP-Elect Uhuru Nelson and Electoral Commission.

Following the 15-1-2026 general election, the two term MP for Maracha Constituency, Hon Oguzu Lee Denis has dragged to court the Winner for Maracha Constituency MP election, Uhuru Nelson as the first respondent and Election Commission as the second respondent.  📸: Copy of the court document shared in NEWS PLATFORM, one of the WhatsApp groups in WestNile region.
