A section of some Parish Development Model (PDM) Beneficiaries and supervisors in some parts of Maracha District have suggested government's departments, the Inspector General of Government (IGG) that is tasked with the roles of investigating corruption allegations and cases to come into the center of PDM money distribution in the District.
The disgruntled people aired their opinions during a community baraza of over 500 people organized by Maracha constituency MP Hon Oguzu Lee Denis (FDC) who was sensitizing the community members in his constituency, about PDM guidelines, the recently passed bills including among others; The Anti-homosexuality law, the Veterinary practitioners Bill, and, the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Bill 2023.
The Obica parish LC2 Chairperson Mr Julius Eguma alleged that, PDM committee officials in his parish have collected more than 2m shs from PDM beneficiaries in the names of facilitation for processing their documents to access the monies.
During an interview with the LC2 after the baraza, he pinned the PDM Committee vetting Chairperson in his Parish as the mastermind behind all these mess.
Mrs Tozia Biata from Akaa village, Lega Parish in Obiba Sub-county says, the PDM Committee officials in her Parish refused to give her the money on claims that, she is poor to borrow the money.
Resident of Lamila Parish, Mr George Enzama who claimed some couples in his Parish benefited from the funds yet the policy from the beginning barred both couples from benefiting, seeked for clarification on where such people got permission for it.
Another PDM beneficiary in Ayiko parish says, their Parish PDM Committee officials collected 10,000 Shs each from 50 of them at the bank gate on the day they went to withdraw the monies.
Women Councilor for Lega Parish, Mrs Florence Enzaru alleged, some officials told her the process of registering Women groups to benefit from PDM, was closed.
