State House Intensifies Investigation Into Shs 1.9 Billion Kololo Seed SS Construction Project Corruption Scandal.
Officials from State House Anti-corruption Unit have on Friday 25-8-2023 traveled to Maracha District for yet another investigation concerning Shs 1.9 billion Kololo Seed Secondary School construction project whose 12 months contract period awarded to ACHORU United Traders Ltd in 2019, was marred with corruption allegations, shoddy and stalled works which led to arrest of Five Maracha District officials on Tuesday 14-6-2022, namely; Mr Candia Stephen (CFO), Mr Ezati Timothy Maluma (Acting District Engineer), Ms Flavia Osoa (DEO), Mr Abiribale T Paul (Internal Auditor) and Mr Oneti William (Senior Assistant Engineer) who were interdicted later on 19-9-2022 over Abuse of office and Mismanagement of public funds but they were reinstated back to office in April 2023 after serving 6 months interdiction period.
After separately interrogating some of the key District officials in this case and Kololo Seed Secondary School PTA committee and management staff, one of the State House Anti-corruption Unit officials who spoke on anonymity and later on referred us to interview the Unit's director, Brig. Gen. Henry Ishoke for comments about the case, said, the files are still with the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) as it awaits conclusion of the investigations.
A member of PTA Committee for the school, Mr Luke Draga affirmed that, whatever has happened in execution of the 1.9 billion Shs project is not their issue but they are only concerned and praying to see the project is completed to improve education and staff housing gaps in the school.
The excitement of the community members who gleefully welcomed the construction project at the school in 8-May-2019, was really so high, Mr Yiki Adabo George the headteacher of Kololo Seed SS said as he lamented on the school management been rendered powerless in implementation of the 1.9b shs project, apart from just watching what was taking place at the construction site.
Asked on if chaos and arrests in the project has affected School management relationship with the District officials, and a Thursday 16-6-2022 incident where the Contractor's foreman met an assault on the deputy headteacher Mr Adrama Martin Agondua accusing him of reporting them to the then RDC Mr Festus Ayikobua, the headteacher described such unfortunate incident as a "Sign of Frustration".
Our repeated phone calls to Head of State House Anti-corruption Unit, Brig Gen Henry Ishoke for a comment about the case, were not answered.
