Some patient attendants in Tara health centre III in Tara sub-county,  Maracha east constituency in Maracha district have decried what is termed as indirect mistreatment of health service seekers by the health service providers in that facility before they are finally discharged.

Mrs Angudeyo Lillian who escorted a pregnant woman to deliver at the health facility said, some health workers are hostile towards patients and patient attendants.

She narrated that, each and every care taker (patient attendant) who escorts patients, especially pregnant women to deliver at Tara health centre are first subjected to compulsory peeling of Cassavas before they are given birth cards and discharged from the facility.

Teacher from Tara primary school Mrs Stella Asibazuyo narrated to us her nasty experience at Tara health centre III, which she said, when they were admitted for delivery, there were no mosquito nets, the doors and window glasses of the health centre are broken and she was optimistic that, their new born baby might be infected with malaria due to mosquito bite.

An expectant mother Mrs Beatrice Oyero from Odupiri village expressed her displeasure with attitude of health workers at Tara health centre III, which she says, take their time to attend to admitted patients.

However, Mrs Esther Munduru Rose Grace a midwife we found at the health centre, dismissed the allegation by patient attendants, by stating that, it's neither compulsory nor a mistreatment for them to first peel cassavas before they are discharged from Tara health centre III.

She said, those patient attendants are just helping them, it is not a condition that everyone has to peel the Cassavas.
