STATEMENT ON ARREST OF THE LC3 CHAIRMAN LOBULE SUBCOUNTY KOBOKO DISTRICT AND DEATH OF ONE MORE VICTIM OF VIOLENCE.

The territorial police of  Koboko district have arrested the LC 3 chairman Lobule Subcounty, Koboko district, one Banga Sulaiman, male adult aged 49 years, a Kakwa by tribe, resident of Lobe village, Aliribu parish, Lobule Subcounty. His arrest was effected on Saturday 28th May 2023 to  assist police with investigations into the violence that resulted in to death of two by now and severe injuries on one victim.

Police investigations into the whole incident strongly connect the L.C 3 chairman Lobule Subcounty to the incident of violence in Lobule Subcounty. Police has gathered substantial evidence that will lead to the arrest of the other remaining suspects.

Before the arrest of the LC 3 chairman, the Acting OC Station Koboko ASP Magombe Reagan and the team of officers paid courtesy to the admitted victims at Koboko general hospital, and found one of the victims called Abibu Sulaiman 40 years out of danger and had gained consciousness. He was able to record statement. 

Meanwhile the other victim one Awadi Silimani, 35 years who sustained multiple deep cuts on his head, was transferred from Koboko General Hospital to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for further treatment as he had  not regained his consciousness.
But later in the night, Awadi Siliman died at Arua Regional Referral Hospital. 

His body was transported to Koboko at night but police directed it to kept at Koboko General Hospital mortuary pending postmortem, which was done this morning. It should be recalled that the first victim of this violence to die in the night of 25th May 2023 was Data Suleiman male adult aged 47 years Kakwa by tribe, resident of Adugule village, Lurujo Parish, Lobule Subcounty, Koboko district. He was cut dead using panga on the head, neck and on the left arm. The second victim to die one, Awadi Siliman is the younger brother of the first victim to die one Data Suleiman, so two brothers murdered by cutting in the same home by some violent people.

Today Sunday 28th May 2023, the District Security Committee had a meeting early morning before moving with the dead body to the burial place. The purpose of the joint meeting was to get way forward on managing the tension among the relatives of the deceased, so as to restore calmness as investigations continue.

Police and other security Committee members have planned meetings with the aggrieved parties so as to reduce tension and prevent possibility of revenge attacks. Such meetings will help to strengthen them as well as give them assurance of justice. The aggrieved party are therefore being advised to be calm and have hope that Police will apprehend all the remaining culprits to face the law.

Police in Arua district are investigating a case of assault and threatening violence involving the Member of Parliament for Ayivu West Constituency John Lematia and James Ariko, a DSTV technician in Arua city. Drama ensued on Easter Sunday 31-3-2024 at Dream Land Hotel located at Kuluva trading center along Arua-Nebbi highway in Arua district when the legislator and the technician engaged in a fight reportedly over a woman identified as Faith Eyotaru 25, a relationship officer at Victoria University Kampala.
