Maracha District local government through office of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) has drafted a letter directing District Service Commission to reinstate the five district officials, namely; Mr Ezati Timothy Maluma the acting district engineer, Mrs Flavia Osoa the DEO, Mr Candia Stephen the CFO, Mr Abiribale T Paul the District Internal Auditor and Mr Oneti William the senior assistant engineering officer who were interdicted on 19-9-2022 over abuse of office and causing financial loss to the tune of 1,900,000,000 Shs meant for construction project at Kololo Secondary School in Tara Sub-county, Maracga District, WestNile region - Uganda.
MISINFORMATION.
The letter dated 13-4-2023, a copy of which this online publication team has obtained, the Chief Administrative Officer for Maracha District Mr Paul Walakira directed head of human resource to reinstate the five interdicted officials on full salary and also pay their salary arrears that accrued during the interdiction period.
“In line with provisions of Section (F-S) 8 (b) of the Uganda Public Service Standing Orders 2021 (paragraph 15), the District Service Commission under minute 137/2023 has noted submission for lifting of your interdiction on full pay. Your interdiction from duty is accordingly lifted.”, part of the letter reads.
However, the issue of misinformation chipped in at the middle of the letter, which says, “lifting of the interdiction on full pay with effect from 24-3-2023” and yet the letter was written, dated 13-4-2023.
HIDING OF INFORMATION.
The Resident District Commissioner for Maracha District, Mr Ayikobua Festus who wasn’t given a copy of this letter of Lifting the interdiction, has written a letter to State House Anti-corruption Unit to seek for clarity and a letter which some of the District officials claim was a clearance from the headquarter to reinstate the five embattled officials.
Mr Festus said, these people who always claim he is fighting them, like isolating RDCs’ office by hiding official documents and letters away from him and his Deputy Mrs Monica Koliba Kotevu.
