Hon Jennifer Driwaru Urges People to Embrace Life in the Church as She Donates Uniforms & Cash Monies to Choirs in Maracha District.

The Woman member of parliament for Maracha District, Hon Driwaru Jennifer has on Tuesday 27-12-2022 delivered hundreds of uniforms that costed her over 5 million shs, to the Choirs in Maracha District.


She made the donations at Maracha Choirs Music Competition which is an annual music festivity held in Maracha District to strengthen the singing capability of Choirs to compete favorably with other choirs in WestNile region and outside.


In Tuesday’s music festivity, Choirs from twelve chapel choirs (Aliba, Mundru Rwe, Nyauke, Okudralu, Milio, Ociba, Pabura, Kinyi Ombatini, Ambekua, Lurua and Onzima Bori) across Maracha District participated in the competition and St Joseph Ombatini chapel choirs were declared winner by the Adjudicator Mr Aziku Robert.


On top of that donation of uniforms, Hon Driwaru Jennifer also gave Shs 600,000 to the twelve choir churches who participated in the competition, with each bagging home 50,000 Shs.


During the handover, the Woman MP said, she became a Choir at the age of 10 years and therefore whatever she is doing for them is not because of politics but for her passion and love in choir.


Hon Jennifer advised the people of Maracha District to embrace life in the church, adding that, those who live their lives in the churches and mosques are always happy and  shining.


She was however quick to caution people, not to politicize the donations and supports to the Choirs.


“I am a mother of Marcaha District!

Many of you people know what mothers are!, even if the child is rebellious and headache to the family, a mother will always love and cater for them equally and that is why you people elected me here to cater equally for the people of Maracha District regardless of gender or religion”, Hon Jennifer reechoed in her closing remarks at the function.




Mr Obeta Moses who was supposed to be the Chief Guest of the festival but has been taken away by other duties, delegated Mr Etindu Lawrence, a teacher by profession to officiate on his behalf, through which Mr Etindu handed over 42 Song books to seven choir chapels which he said were pledged last year 2021 by Mr Obeta Moses.


Besides the 42 song books, Mr Obeta also donated Shs 300,000 cash to the choirs who participated in Tuesday’s music competition at Maracha Parish Center.


Mr Etindu on his side, gave Shs 50,000 for the Choirs before urging them to improve on song practices to bolster their performances.



Eng Aguta Sam (NRM) who contested in the 14-1-2021 general elections but lost to incumbent Hon Oguzu Lee Denis (FDC), gave 100,000 Shs to support the Choirs in Maracha District.


He advised the choirs to draw a stiff competition amongst themselves so that they can qualify to go for music festival competitions outside Uganda, an advise he justified with mentioning Christ the King Catholic Church Arua who now days travel for music competitions in places like South Africa and so on.


Eng Aguta who arrived a bit late before the festival closed and was given speaking airtime by Mr Etindu, praised Hon Driwaru Jennifer for being an MP of people and thanked her for the generous material and financial supports she has rendered to the people of Maracha District.


He said, Hon Jennifer doesn’t miss any important event that benefits the community, a clue he gave with comparison and asked, where are the other Leaders ?, a question that attracted handclaps from the congregations.



The clergy fraternity expressed their gratitude to Hon Jennifer for always being an MP of generosity and prayed God to oversee the kind-hearted Woman MP.
