Hon Mathias Mpuga was on Gen Kale Kayihura’s Fuel List - Norbert Mao.

The Democratic Party (DP) President, Norbert Mao,  has this Saturday afternoon lashed at National Unity Platform (NUP), saying the leader of Opposition in Parliament was a beneficiary of former IGP Gen Kale Kayihura’s largesse.

“Your current Leader of Opposition was on Kayihura’s fuel list,” alleged Mao in a heated exchange with NUP supporters on Twitter.

“I’ll fearlessly speak the truth about those who tell lies about me. Be warned. I’m loading a nuclear warhead,” he added.

Kayihura, who served as IGP for almost ten years, had infiltrated the opposition parties to the core to the extent that most of the President’s harshest critics picked money from his office and fuel from police.

Mao did not provide evidence to back up his claims. Mpuuga was not readily available for comment.

It all started with Mao calling for a united opposition front to challenge Museveni’s hold onto power.

“For decades I have preached principled unity to deal with Musevenism – the man, the machine and the mindset. Unhealthy competition and infiltration killed unity efforts. Today I repeat my distilled advice to those who genuinely want change – NEVER LAUNCH A MISSILE FROM A CANOE!” said Mao.

He then shared an old video in which Bobi seemed to have confidence in Uganda’s Electoral Commission which the opposition says serves the interests of President Museveni.

As soon as Mao posted the video, NUP’s keyboard warriors opened fire at the politician.

A one RaySengo responded to Mao: “U’re among @StateHouseUg‘s fuel card beneficiary & one of State House’s unclassified budget beneficiary…”

An enraged Mao fired back, saying Mpuuga regularly picked Kayihura’s fuel.

This is not the first time NUP leaders are being accused of being in bed with the ruling government.

Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine was a close associate of Kayihura and sang at police functions.

It’s alleged Bobi Wine also picked millions of shillings from Gen Salim Saleh and Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for campaigns for Kyadondo East constituency.

Bobi has since denied kowtowing to the establishment to raise funds for his election.

Mao’s anger appears to stem from the recently-concluded Kayunga LC 5 Chairman’s elections in which NUP reportedly undermined DP.

“Even in Kayunga they (NUP) spent all their time attacking @DPSecretariat1,” said Mao.

He also threatened he would soon “open my mouth about what failed unity and some of you will be thoroughly embarrassed.”

In the run up to the 2021 general elections, Uganda’s main opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye called for a united force to take on Museveni.

He, however, came under attack by NUP activists who said he had nothing to offer as he had on four occasions lost elections to the incumbent.
