Why You Must Stop When Traffic Police Officers Stop You on the Road ❓

JUST STOP!

You’re running late for a meeting that you’re supposed to be chairing and the police waves you down. You are terribly irritated and time-barred. Just stop!

Your wife is in the back seat of your car, her water has “broken”. You were going at 80 km/hr on a road whose speed limit is 50 km/hr. The police waves you down. Just stop!

You’re running late to pick up your child from school and you’re just seeing how your ka-50k is going to go just like that in paying another fine. The police waves you down. Just stop!

You have been in traffic for hooouurs. You are dying to get home to use the toilet. The police waves you down. Just stop!

You….The police waves you down. Just stop!  It doesn’t matter what scenario you play out in your mind whether it is an emergency; with your wife or with your work or with your bowels, if the police be it traffic police or any other police for that matter stops you, you must stop.

Why?  Because the police has the mandate to do so to ensure that law and order is being upheld as provided under section 142 of the Traffic and Road Safety Act.  If you speed off without explanation instead of stopping and properly explaining that you are rushing your expectant wife to the hospital, the police will mark your number plate and there’s little evidence to corroborate your story when the damage has been done.  This may lead to cancellation of your driver's license and may also lead to you paying a fine for not being complaint to police traffic control instructions.  Follow the law, just stop!
