The fate of business and plight of job employments in Uganda.
Two weeks ago, i took sometime to do consultations in the office of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) in line with taxation in this Country.
From my consultations, i found 20 Litres of Honey is taxed 90.000 Shillings, which is almost equal to the price you buy it at!
The same fate with importing Cars, URA charges a tax almost equal to the amount you bought the car.
It's aslo confirmed that, URA charges more than 50.000 Shillings tax on each imported Smartphone.
I realized that, "over taxation" is what hampers rapid growth in the country.
It leaves many people wondering if there is interest to support and empower Citizens who are doing business in the Country, by lowering taxes on imported products and for retail traders in the country.
Starting up a business in Uganda is easy but its prosperity entirely relies on how you play the tunes of mafias, one of which is tax evasion (smuggling), which is highly risky when caught by URA but one with spirit of "Prosperity" has to believe in "Taking the Risk".
The employment sector in Uganda deems to be more of crap because most of the employees in various job employment sectors (in Government, in NGOs and in Private / Individual employers) seem to be just frustrating the employees through slavery payments.
With no proper job securities, people get committed into working hard for a petty money for survival (basic needs) 200.000 Shillings to 350.000 Shillings per month.
NB: These are my personal opinions, and they are not in anyway affiliated with or in the interests of any foreign organization, individual, government or any politician in Uganda.
Thanks.
