Sudhir Fires Entire Sanyu FM Staff over 25% Salary-Cut Protest, As They Echo Fair Treatment in Regards to Labour Laws of Uganda.

On Saturday, the staff laid down their tools protesting a 25% pay cut forcing the station to play only non-stop music. All other programs were halted.

Earlier today Comedian Salvado shared news that he had joined the station, this was followed by James Onen Fatboy’s post on facebook announcing that he was leaving the station after 21 years.

“21 years the ride is over, thanks for the support all these years, you’re the best fans in the world, will communicate future plans soon. In the meantime, ladies, I’m coming for transport money #savetheboy child,” he posted.

The fired Sanyu FM’s staff have this evening taken to the company digital platforms and announced that they were unfairly fired.

“You may have heard that we have been unfairly fired for a sit down strike protesting a 25% pay cut while we work. This is not in the spirit of fair negotiation between Sanyu FM and its staff, ” they tweeted.

The staff say, want to be treated fairly based on the labour laws of Uganda or else they seek for legal assistance.

“We want to be treated fairly based on the labour laws of Uganda. We would like the management of Sanyu FM to sit down and negotiate with us collectively based on the Labour Act of Uganda 58, 89 and 78” another tweet reads.

They added, “We are considering Legal Action against Sanyu FM for wrongful/Unfair dismissal, any lawyers who are not Afraid of taking on #Sudhir please help”

In response to the media reports regarding the firing of the radio staff, Sudhir said the employees failed to meet their employment and contractual obligations. He said they decided to go on strike contrary to their contracts thus terminating the contract themselves.
