CORONAVIRUS OFFER. Giant Telecom Company MTN Uganda Removes Mobile Money Charges For Next 30 Days Over Coronavirus Outbreak.


MTN Uganda has on Wednesday, March 18 deferred expenses on its Mobile Money cash transactions for each exchange below UGX30,000 for the following 30 days.

MTN’s Chief Executive Officer, Wim Vanhelleputte said this permits clients to utilize cashless methods of payments as a major aspect of the measures to forestall the transmission of Covid-19.

The MTN CEO said all individual to-individual exchanges below UGX30,000 will be free for the following 30 days.

Prior to the move, it cost was somewhere in the range of UGX850 and 1100 to move money below UGX30,000 on MTN – MTN Uganda stages.

He added that the choice to postpone charges came after MTN held a meeting with Central Bank representative Tumusiime Mutebile and other industry players including banks to talk about the advancing circumstance around the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“We propose to execute together with the Commercial Banks the accompanying crisis taxes from 12:00 am Thursday 20th March 2020 and stay set up for a time of thirty days; there will be no charge for Peer to Peer (P2P) on-net exchanges below UGX 30,000,” Vanhellaputte said.

Following the meeting, Bank of Uganda endorsed that there will be no charge for the wallet to bank (W2B) or bank to wallet (B2W) exchanges.

Wim said this is dependant on the organization with the Commercial Banks to guarantee exchanges are zero-evaluated on both the supporter wallet and financial balance.

He additionally uncovered that there will be no charge for all MoMo pay exchanges for clients and dealers.

“We will keep on making whatever planned move is important to help and receive further preparatory methodologies and age of bits of knowledge to help national endeavors,” Vanhellaputte noted.

Lab Student Drowned, Body Missing in Rokoze Lake in Nyadri Sub-county, Maracha District.
