The Minister For Kampala, Hon Betty Kamya has Said, People`s Government Led By Kizza Besigye and People Power Led By Bobi Wine Should Be Banned.
These People are Crazy Puppets and Hypocrites.
The Minister for Kampala, Kamya has Saturday said that "People Power", an opposition pressure group led by youthful legislator, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine as well as Dr Kizza Besigye led "People’s Government" should be banned and their activities quashed.
Kamya who was hosted on Top Radio’s ‘Negwozadde’ talkshow moderated by Steven Dunstan Busuulwa, said these organizations are not registered which makes them illegal. He said the leadership uses the groupings to incite the public.
“Bobi Wine is running an unregistered political organization. People Power and People’s Government are non existent in our laws. As a country, we went into multiparty dispensation, but these people are undermining it,” Kamya noted.
“Unregistered political organisations like People’s Government and People Power should be banned since their leadership uses them to incite violence,” said Kamya.
She observed that four-time Presidential candidate, Kizza Besigye willingly left FDC leadership, but decided to undermine the party by establishing parallel offices at Katonga Road, a move she says undermines activities of a registered political party, FDC.
“Imagine he (Besigye) appointed FDC President, Patrick Oboi Amuriat in the People’s Government,” she said.
Her remarks come just a day after a one Ntare Rutaro dragged Bobi Wine and Kizza Besigye to the Constitutional Court for establishing and operating unregistered political organizations yet they carry out activities that are constitutionally a reserve of duly registered political parties.
As such, Rutaro wants Court to declare the two; People’s Government and People Power and their activities unlawful.
Bobi Wine on Wednesday unveiled a team of regional coordinators for his mobilization for Presidency in 2021. There, he announced that he will stand for presidency and appealed to other oppositions political forces to join him and end President Yoweri Museveni’s over 30 year rule.
But on Saturday, Kamya wondered why Bobi Wine, who is new player in the country’s politics would want old players to join him, yet according to her, he is not informed enough about the management of the country.
“Bobi Wine has just graced the political space. Why does he want everyone in the opposition to join him? Dr Kizza Besigye has been in the struggle for over 20 years and the same applies to President Museveni and great nationalists like Robert Mugabe. Bobi Wine may be lucky but luck in leadership is not enough,” she said.
“I only pray that my young brother Bobi Wine calms down, a leader chosen by God shall always be. When God decides that Museveni ceases being President, so shall be,” she added.
Having been in opposition for a couple of years, Kamya was been tasked by the moderator to weigh in on who can be a better President on Kizza Besigye and Bobi Wine. She said Bobi Wine lacks knowledge of how a country is run.
“Let us at look their manifestos and what they tell the public. Bobi Wine who said that he doesn’t understand fiscal policy on which a country is run, how can he be a President? President Yoweri Museveni and Dr Kizza Besigye read a lot, they have a lot of knowledge,” she said.
On the highly criticised President Yoweri Museveni’s Wealth Creation tours by the opposition, the minister says, all leaders including local council Chairpersons, Mayors and the President have their constituencies.
“The President’s Constituency is Uganda. The way MPs traverse their constituencies on weekends to meet the people they serve, is the same way the President moves across the country.
“It is not fair to blame the President for traversing the country. What he is doing is what every leader should do because they are given taxpayer’s money to do that,” noted the minister.
