Last Weekend on Saturday 20 July 2019, we held a financial literacy for head teachers , their deputies and some teachers in Maracha district.
We there after formed Maracha District Teachers Sacco which among other benefits will promote a saving culture and also act as a cheaper source of borrowing capital for them.
The training and Sacco formation was facilitated by Savings Bank Fund International and Uganda Cooperative and Savings and Credit Union,an apex organisation of all the saccos in Uganda.
The Maracha District Education Officer convened the teachers and facilitated at the launch to give this initiative a big push.
With this , the teachers will become major actors in wealth creation and champion the path together with other actors towards middle income status in the district.
We thank the partners for allowing to come to my district to actualize this initiative.
It is Our prayer that the Sacco will grow to capture all the primary school teachers who are over 1300 in number .
Soon We shall have another engagement with secondary school teachers who have shown their willingness to be part of this Sacco.
