Arua Aringa Community Association (AACA) Mourns the Death of Veteran Soldier Rtd Maj Mahammud Ramathan Lagbe.
We woke up on Wednesday morning 2 July 2025, to hear the unfortunate and painful death of one of our elders, a very experienced, important, and social ex-Soldier, Rtd Maj Mahammud Ramathan Lagbe from Gotri Cell, Rampeta ward in Lodonga Town Council, Aringa South Constituency in Yumbe District.
Born in 1940, Mahammud Ramathan died on Wednesday, 2 July 2025.
Having risen through the ranks from Private to Major, Mahammud Ramathan joined the East African Rival Army on 8 October 1960, and on 9 October 1962, after Uganda gained independence, he, together with other soldiers, was subsumed into the Uganda Army.
He served through the regimes of Kabaka, Obote, and Amin; thereafter, they fled to exile after President Amin was overthrown in 1979.
Rtd Maj Mahammud was a strong pillar in the Aringa tribe!
He was a peacemaker!
He was a unifier and an ideologist.
It's from these strong convictions that we, the Aringa people and the entire people of the WestNile region and Uganda, are going to miss the late Rtd Maj Mahammud.
He will be buried on Thursday, 3 July 2025.
May his soul rest in peace.
Your, Ezama Ham Mizamil
Arua Aringa Community Association Chairperson.
