Bob is a devoted fan of the superman movies. He has watched all the movies and even owns a superman costume.
Recently, there were many theft cases in his neighborhood at night and he decided to protect the people since he believed he has learnt enough from superman movies. One Saturday night, he put on his costume to patrol the neighborhood at night and catch thieves. He found a gang of them in a dark corridor and they beat him up. He now wants to open a case against them for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
Is he really a law enforcement officer?
WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY ?.
The law provides for specific procedures and qualifications that people must meet before they can become recognized law enforcement officers. These officers could include police, the army, village security officers, private security firms etc. These various categories have detailed recruitment programs that people apply to before they can join and are given legal authority as law enforcement officers.
Therefore, someone cannot just wake up and declare themselves officers with no training or legal recognition. It is an offense under the law to pass off as a police or army officer.
