Two Years After Swearing of 11th Parliament MPs, Information is Power Explores and Brings to You Achievements of WestNile MPs.

Following swearing in ceremony of 11th Parliament MPs on 17th, 18th and 19th May 2021, voters from different parts of Uganda have been praising and others criticizing their various MPs regarding their performances since they were sworn in.

At Information is Power (iip), we bring to you the lists of performing and none performing legislators from WestNile region since May-2021 to 2023.

Today, we have picked Terego west constituency whose MP Hon Leku Joel (NRM) garnered 10,218 votes,    Angundru Moses (Independent) garnered 8,126 votes,    Musema Swali (FDC) garnered 2,631 votes,    Mulema Chris (Independent) garnered 1,066 votes   and    Ajobe Bosco (Independent) garnered 824 votes during Thursday 14-1-2021 general elections.

Two years after he was sworn on 18-5-2021, here are some of his achievements besides Oversight, Budget and Legislation roles.

Hon Leku Joel is a member of three Committees (EAC, STI and HIV / AIDs) in Parliament of Uganda.

He is also a staunch NRM party member who has not only supported the party through mobilization but has supported the party through funding party activities in Terego District.

1. He bought 2 acres of community land in Leju town council for establishment of vocational school.

2. Bought tricycle (Raxer) for Terego West Moslem Community.

3. Supported the fight against environmental degradation by donating millions of cash money for tree planting.

4. To motivate children in schools, Hon Leku Joel donated scholastic materials to a total of 16 PLE 1st graders in 2021.

5. He gave financial support of 200,000 Shs to families of  2022 PLE 1st graders to start income generating activities.

6. Parish engagement with support of Shs 3 million per parish for mind set change and preparation of community for PDM.

7. He Lobbied and distributed maize seedlings to farmers in Terego West Constituency.

8. He steered a team who trained NRM sub-county and parish chairpersons, LC II chairpersons and parish chiefs, civil servants, women and youth leaders in Terego West Constituency on project planning and implementation, like PDM and others.

9. Hon Leku bought and gave out solar panels to religious institutions and its installations will be done in June 2023.

10. Lobbied for 5 tones of chia seeds for both commercial and home use whose health benefits are; it improves heart health, reduce cholesterol levels and promote intestinal health.

11. He supported sports sector through donation of uniforms, netballs and footballs to clubs in the constituency.

12. Offered financial support of Shs 500,000 to Youths groups at each trading centre in Terego west county to start income generating activities, particularly farming.

13. Repaired 10 boreholes.

14. Hon Leku also lobbied for hospital beds, rural water scheme, electricity survey and mapping of Terego West Constituency.

15. He lobbied for 20 tons of maize flour and 10 tons of beans for most vulnerable older persons in the Constituency.

Wedded Ayivu West MP Lematia John Fights Over Another Woman.

Police in Arua district are investigating a case of assault and threatening violence involving the Member of Parliament for Ayivu West Constituency John Lematia and James Ariko, a DSTV technician in Arua city. Drama ensued on Easter Sunday 31-3-2024 at Dream Land Hotel located at Kuluva trading center along Arua-Nebbi highway in Arua district when the legislator and the technician engaged in a fight reportedly over a woman identified as Faith Eyotaru 25, a relationship officer at Victoria University Kampala.
