There was moment of excitement in Maracha District when Fuso lorry ferrying food relief for vulnerable people arrived for distribution.As loory moved through the town to Nyadri urban secondary school,the venue for distribution it attracted ululations from the population in town and hundreds of the selected beneficiaries before the items where placed on the school compound according to number of the beneficiaries.
The food package that includes, maize floor, sugar, cooking oil and Rice is support to vulnerable by PHASES COMMUNITY FIRST, an international organisation established 2014 in Somalia but over the years expanded her operations to countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia and now Uganda piloting the first program in maracha district.
The program in maracha district is being coordinated by Mr Justus Aduma who is a director and the technical program manager with PHASE.
The task to identify the most vulnerable to benefit from the program was given to the religious leaders with support of area lc3 chairpersons hailing from the 11 administrative units in Maracha east constituency.
About 518 lists of vulnerable people have been submitted by religious leaders to benefit from the first phase program of food relief.
