The residents of Arivu Sub-county in Vurra Constituency, Arua District have praised their leaders Hon Alfred Okuonzi the LC5 Chairman, Hon Candini Luiji secretary for works and social services who is also the Councillor representing Arivu Sub-county in the District Council and the NRM government for improving the service delivery in the District.

The residents sounded their praises at the flagoff of an 8km road stretching from main road in Arivu to Jupala market.

They said, that road has taken over 15 years without being worked upon and yet it’s a road that links them with Jupala market - Arivu main road, lamenting that, it has always been very hard for them to transport their farm products to the various markets like Arua City main market.

Fr Acidri Akwilino said, he is very happy that, the LC5 Chairman Hon Alfred, his Councillor Hon Candini, District officials and the NRM government is making his father’s dreams come true because it was his father who created that road over 50 years ago.

The Catholic Fr, Acidri thanked the NRM government and Arua District officials for this stepping stone to success.

The District Engineer, Eng Tiyo William Odaa said, despite the total budget needed for that road being 120 million Shs, out of which they have only got 55 million Shs allocated for it, they can’t waste that 55 million Shs.

They would rather put the 55 million Shs to do some improvements to save the alarming dangers caused by the road as they wait for the Council to do what is necessary in the coming financial years to tarmac it, Eng Tiyo hinted.

The District Engineer Tiyo William Odaa introduced road District road inspector Afimani Simon as the person who will be incharge of the construction work on that road.

The NRM Chairman for Arivu Sub-county, Mr Noah Ori Musa who is also a Khadi, declared LCV Chairman Hon Alfred Okuonzi and Arivu Councillor Hon Candini Luiji unopposed for 2026 general elections.

He threatened anyone or some people who might be intending to contest with these incumbents, to go and contest anywhere or else they will be crushed in the ballot by the voters come 2026.

Mr Noah Ori who said he has worked with roads sector for over 15 years, appealed to the District officials to apply to UNRA to incorporate that Arua - Jupala road for each maintenance of it.

The councilor representing Arivu Sub-county to the District, Hon Candini Luiji hailed the LC5 Chairman Hon Alfred Okuonzi for working in cooperation with them in the District council.

He said, they (executive) had discussed the issue of that road, later debated it in the council which was passed and when it reached to the LC V Chairman’s attention, it was simply approved.

While responding to some propagandists who have been spreading half-backed information, that, the money meant for that 8 Km (Arua - Jupala) road has been eaten by the LC V Chairman, Hon Candini cautioned them to be careful with the lies they spread to tarnish not only the image of the LC V chairman but it also tarnishes image of the Council and entire Arua District.

The Councillor promised to lobby more for the people of Arivu Sub-county.

The Arua District LC5 Chairman Hon Okuonzi Alfred thanked the Council and various stake holders for the coordinations and unity in service the people.

Hon Okuonzi tasked the locals to give him and the various leaders more work through writing and other complains.

He said, most times people get the services they need when they make noise and write letters about it.

In reply to those who have been spreading propaganda about him, that he has embezzled some money, the LC5 Chairman told the locals to remain calm, saying, if indeed he stole any money from the District, then this project would not be done now.

How can i all of a sudden turn to be a Predator for my people when it’s their pain that made me to come serve them in this office, he asked.

Hon Okuonzi concluded that, he is here to work and serve his people and whatever lies and defamations some people may want to concoct against him, let them continue but at the end, the truth will justify.
