MARACHA DISTRICT LAYS 29.5 BILLION DRAFT BUDGET, LOCALS RALLY MORE ALLOCATION FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT.

Maracha district residents have asked district councillors to consider consulting their electorates over their needs of priorities before final approval of district budget in may.
Their demand comes at a time Maracha district on Wednesday during council session laid adraft budget projection of about 29.5 billion for next fiscal year, a draft which shall in due course be subjected to scrutiny by the district Councilors and various committees before it's final approval.
According to the laid draft budget, maracha district expects to source 1.1 billion from local revenue sources, 3.2 billion from discretional government transfers, 23.9 billion from government programs conditional grands amongst other sources for supporting the budget.
while giving the budget speech, Asea Bosco ,the leader of government businesses also vice district chairperson explains that laid budget is slightly below the 30 million plus that council had approved for the running fiscal year because fund for the parish development module has been excluded from the draft.
Asea bosco who dedicated the budget to all stakeholders and council said,I would like to take this opportunity to comment this budget to stakeholders for tirelessly working and contributing to the economic transformation of our dear district, I hereby lay before this August house for consideration district budgetary proposals for revenue and expenditures for 2023/24 plus accompanying work plans amounting to shillings 29,585,762,182.
The leader of government businesses remains hopeful that the budget will likely increase with coming of final budge call circular.
However,soon after the council session, members of community who attended to the whole process at gallery reacted to the laid budget .
Majority of community stakeholders called upon the district councillors to cater for the interests of their community in the due process of scrutinising the budget as they recommended for fair budget for infrastructure development and more support to education.

Others also listed need to allocate more funds for completion of the district storeyed building.
Mr Afimani Geoffrey, an opinion leader reasons , this time round the district Council should consider as first priority working on dilapidated state of district feeder roads and broken brideges that has continued to hamper access to markets and educational institutions.
Afimani said, I would wish this time the budget should focus on infrastructure that can connect the economic activities, I look at the issues of infrastructures in relation to roads where maracha district has many roads that are impassable with broken bridges roads can not connect.
Afimani explained this while mentioning broken brideges of Rinyi in nyadri South, ayi Bridge one connecting lower Nyadri with alikua subcounty.
A similar concern was raised by Mr, Godfrey osutre ,the chairperson of Paranga sub county who decry poor state of roads in his area which he says has generated public outcry in the area.
'Due to our topography ,road is a priority taking a point from oleba to Retriko a bridge called Lurua is broken and in that location there is security out post but incase of an emergency inside maracha definitely there is no root to access the security personnel to rescue such situation,'osutre explained .
Earlier in the council, maracha district speaker Emmanuel Wani directed the councillors to ensure scrutiny is done with consultation of technocrats and if need be with his office for inclusion of their demands.
