CAN I SAY IT WAS NOT ME BECAUSE ‘ I WAS NOT THERE’ ?.

📸: Stock Image. Danilo works as a waiter at one of the big bars from 7 pm to 3 am and with his salary, he pays his university tuition. So it is not usual to see him running to catch a taxi at 6pm or entering the home he rents at about 5am. Last week, on his way from work, a police patrol car stopped him and arrested him because ‘a thief wearing black jeans and a black shirt with white shoes’ had run away after stealing from a nearby house about 2 hours before. Danilo tried explaining, but he was thrown in a cell, and now he has to face court to prove he is not a thief. What should he tell the court.   WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?   By law, when a person is accused of committing a crime, the prosecution (the side which proves a case against a person) must show that the person was at the scene of the crime. This means that if you are accused of stealing something from a place, they must show that you were within or at the place where the theft occurred. For example, if a theft w

Thousands of Android Malware Apps Using Stealthy APK Compression to Evade Detection.

Threat actors are using Android Package (APK) files with unknown or unsupported compression methods to elude malware analysis. That's according to findings from Zimperium, which found 3,300 artifacts leveraging such compression algorithms in the wild. 71 of the identified samples can be loaded on the operating system without any problems. There is no evidence that the apps were available on the Google Play Store at any point in time, indicating that the apps were distributed through other means, typically via untrusted app stores or social engineering to trick the victims into sideloading them. The APK files use "a technique that limits the possibility of decompiling the application for a large number of tools, reducing the possibilities of being analyzed," security researcher Fernando Ortega said. "In order to do that, the APK (which is in essence a ZIP file), is using an unsupported decompression method." The advantage of such an approach is its

📸: Unsplash. Ponsiano recently fell in love with Aggy. Aggy is a married woman, but she claims she is also in love with Ponsiano. One day the two decided to run away together and start a new life. Aggy’s husband Benard ran to report the matter to the nearest police station. Commander Jesse, the officer in charge of the station tracked down Ponsiano and brought him to the cells. The police told him they are charging him with the crime of elopement according to Section 127 of the Penal Code. He has said he did not know that what he did was a crime so he should not be punished for it.   WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?   By law, your ignorance about the law is not an excuse against being punished if you commit a crime. This is because most offences are made up of actions or failure to act in a certain way that the law does not allow. This is known as actus reus (the actions that make a crime).  For example, if you are stopped for over speeding on the road, you cannot claim that you did
