Africell Telecom Becomes the Second Telecom Company in this Year to Exit Uganda After Smart Telecom Exited Last Month August-2021.

Telecom Company Africell Uganda Limited has confirmed that it is exiting the Ugandan market in October. In a communication to staff on Tuesday, 07 September 2021, Africell said it will be leaving the country on October 7. “Africell UG will stop services on October 7, 2021. The decision is being made in the long term interest of the Ugandan telecom sector,” the company announced. The company also revealed that their objectives in Uganda have not been achieved over their last seven years of operations in the country, and that it is therefore prudent that they leave. “We believe that the opportunity to achieve this impact is increasingly limited. We have therefore taken the difficult decision to permanently end Africell UG’s operations in Uganda.” Africell launched its commercial operations in Uganda in November 2014 after acquiring shares of Orange Uganda earlier in the year for $12 million and inherited an estimated 1,000,000 subscribers at the time of its purchase. IF YOUR DELIVERY GETS LOST VIA ‘JAMA ONLINE SHOP’ ETC, SHOULD YOU DEMAND COMPENSATION❓. Part One.

Mateeka saw a nice pair of shoes for his girlfriend while on the Jama online shopping app and quickly paid the price inclusive of delivery using his mobile money and even received a call from the online store customer help desk who asked for directions to his workplace. However, as evening approached, Mateeka started worrying about his delivery and called the online shop number. After a series of calls, they apologized and told him that the delivery guy ‘stole’ his delivery, and he should wait for the guy to be tracked down so he can get it back.  Mateeka demanded a refund, but they told him that ‘he cannot get a refund once goods are released from the store.  WHO SHOULD MATEEKA SUE FOR HIS REFUND? First, let us get a few facts straight. Mateeka did not know the delivery guy or but only knew the store which promised and charged him for the delivery of the shoes. He also did not receive what he paid for. If this happens you should complain to the online shop and retailer to cross check

SHOULD YOU BE GIVEN NOTICE WHEN YOUR CONTRACT IS EXPIRING❓

Kimera has been an absolute terror at his workplace. He has often bragged about how he could bring anyone to tears if he wanted. Even his supervisor is uncomfortable dealing with him. Last week, the atmosphere around his workmates has been very cheerful since they heard that some contracts may not be renewed. Upon some ‘careful’ snooping and interrogation of the HR staff, Kimera has found out that his contract is one of those that will not be renewed. He is now on the warpath and intends to sue the company into the ‘stone age’ for not giving him notice that he will have no new contract.  SHOULD YOUR EMPLOYER NOTIFY YOU THAT YOU WILL NOT HAVE A NEW CONTRACT? No, the law does not ‘demand that your employer give you a notice that your contract will not be renewed. This is because your contract already states when the contract will expire. Some contracts also have a clause that says the employer will inform you when your contract is about to expire whether it will be renewed or not. If it

Apple Delays to Scan Devices for Child Abuse Images After Privacy Backlash.

Apple is temporarily hitting the pause button on its controversial plans to screen users' devices for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) after receiving sustained blowback over worries that the tool could be weaponized for mass surveillance and erode the privacy of users. "Based on feedback from customers, advocacy groups, researchers, and others, we have decided to take additional time over the coming months to collect input and make improvements before releasing these critically important child safety features," the iPhone maker said in a statement on its website. The changes were originally slated to go live with iOS 15 and macOS Monterey later this year. The announcement, however, doesn't make it clear as to the kind of inputs it would be gathering, the nature of changes it aims to devise, or how it intends to implement the system in a way that mitigates the privacy and security concerns that could arise once it's deployed. The changes were originally slated t
