Google Removes 21 Malicious Android Apps from Play Store.

Google has stepped in to remove several Android applications from the official Play Store following the disclosure that the apps in question were found to serve intrusive ads. The findings were reported by the Czech cybersecurity firm Avast on Monday, which said the 21 malicious apps (list here) were downloaded nearly eight million times from Google's app marketplace. The apps masqueraded as harmless gaming apps and came packed with HiddenAds malware, a notorious Trojan known for its capabilities to serve intrusive ads outside of the app. The group behind the operation relies on social media channels to lure users into downloading the apps. Earlier this June, Avast discovered a similar HiddenAds campaign involving 47 gaming apps with over 15 million downloads that were leveraged to display device-wide intrusive ads. The Death of Deputy Government Spokesperson Colonel Shaban Bantariza Sparks Uproar and Mockery from Ugandans on Social Media.

RIP Col-Shaban Bantariza Deputy government spokesperson Col. Shaban Bantariza is dead. Col. Bantariza died today morning at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he had been admitted since Sunday. Media Centre Executive Director, Ofwono Opondo who is also the boss of Col. Bantariza announced his death. “I hereby with deep sorrow regret to announce the death of my Deputy Shaban Bantariza that occurred early this morning at Mulago Hospital where he had been in admission since Sunday with hypertension” Mr Ofwono wrote. Bantariza was in 2013 appointed Media Centre Deputy Executive Director by President Yoweri Museveni before he was retired.  Within the same  year, he was arrested and slapped with charges of embezzlement of funds while he served as the head of National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi. World Record Runner Joshua Cheptegei has Been Promoted from the Rank of Inspector of Police (IP) to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

What could have been as a shock to many is that, all along many people didn't know Cheptegei Joshua is a Police Officer. Blogger Ashburg Kato has protested against certain members of the National Resistance Movement over what he calls “lack of transparency’ following the disappearance of cows that had been promised to him by President Museveni. Kato claims that during a meeting with President Museveni at his farm in Kisozi, the president promised him five cows which he duly delivered. “When I met the president, he said he was very happy with my ideas, he asked that I start farming so as a contribution he pledged five cows. I was elated but I was not prepared to have the cows, I had not where to put them immediately,” Kato said. “The truth is that the president never tells lies even if he promises you the whole of Kampala today, you will wake up and demand it and have it.
