Paul Biya, the President of Cameroon has Appointed New Prime Minister - Decree.

Cameroon has a new Prime Minister in the person of Dion Ngute Joseph. His appointment was announced by a decree signed by Head of State, President Paul Biya on Friday. The Prime Minister according to the governance structure is the Head of Government. Dion Ngute replaces long serving Philemon Yang in the role. Born in March 1954, the last known government post he held was as Minister in the Presidency between 2 March 2018 – January 4, 2019 when he was announced Premier. At at 2017, he was Cameroon Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of cooperation with the Commonwealth, and represented government at Oslo humanitarian summit on Nigeria and the Lake Chad region. He also served as director at the Advanced School of Administration & Magistracy ENAM (1991-97). The African Union has called upon invested parties in the Democratic Republic of Congo to respect the results of the presidential election, as tensions grow over delays in the counting process. The elections will determine who succeeds President Joseph Kabila, who has been at the helm of sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest country for nearly 18 years. Moussa Faki, head of the AU Commission, met on Friday with the head of the AU observer mission, Dioncounda Traore, a former president of Mali, at the bloc’s headquarters in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. Experts discovered over 35 million US voter records for sale in a hacking forum. Millions of voter records are available for sale on the Dark Web, experts from Anomali and Intel 471 discovered 35 million US voter records for sale in a hacking forum. An Ethiopian Airlines plane skidded off the runway at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda.

A plane carrying 139 people skidded off the runway when it landed Thursday at an international airport in Uganda, the airline and airport officials said. The Ethiopian Airlines flight was landing at Entebbe airport at 12:41 a.m. Thursday (4:41 p.m. ET Wednesday) when it "overshot the runway," according to airport authorities. All passengers and crew on the Boeing 737-800 plane disembarked safely, but the incident affected inbound international flights earlier in the day, Uganda's Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) said in a statement. The plane was coming from Ethiopia's busy capital, Addis Ababa. UCAA later posted on Twitter that the aircraft had been removed and normal operations had resumed at the only international airport in the East African country. EU Urges DR Congo to Restore Shutdown of Social Media.

The EU has called on the Democratic Republic of Congo to restore internet access, which operators say was cut on government orders. The internet has been blocked since Monday, the day after the presidential election. The joint statement by the European Union, the United States, Canadian and Swiss heads of mission in Kinshasa was issued on Monday. The British Ambassador in the DR Congo tweeted the statement. The statement also refers to the election observers the National Episcopal Electoral Conference of Congo (Cenco) and an alliance of citizens' observer missions, Symocel. But the country's two main election monitors are still trying to get access to the election count, reports AFP news agency. The result is expected on 6 January.
